our love lost.

our love lost. a poem by sandra.

we used to sip coffee every day
now I sit alone with my warm mug
remembering every detail of
our love lost

the laughter and sweet smiling glances
your hand covering mine the first time
our silly talks that could have gone on
forever

the way your eyes mirrored mine that night
moments before our delicious kiss
you stole my breath and I had to have
another taste

precious words of love rolled off your tongue
as we collapsed in each other’s arms
the beautiful love we made all night
was heaven

you promised I was your only girl
I trusted you and believed in us
and I whispered the words you wanted
I love you

but we crashed as quickly as we rose
with tears I lost you and you lost me
I still miss you but my pain eased and
left me numb

we used to make sweet love every night
now, alone, I stare at the ceiling
remembering every detail of
our love lost

swish.

the whole half.

the whole half.
Your smile that night
Melted the insides of
Every girl in the room
But you chose me
I remember your words
I remember every one
They replay in my head
Every day I’m without you

I was afraid to take
What you offered me
I wanted to be whole
You gave me completion
I wanted to want you and
I did but I needed you too
Need eclipsed want
And I knew it was wrong

I walked away but
It was a mistake to leave
The image of your tears
Is burned into my brain
Now after years alone
I think of nothing but you
Your sighs and your pleas
Your screams and your cries

Everything you told me
Was right and I was wrong
I am consumed by regret
and
I hope you still want me
Because I want you

swish.

This poem was inspired by The Airborne Toxic Event… and their song Half of Something Else, one of my favorite songs ever written.

a quick apology.

spam.Damn Spam.

I just wanted to make a quick post of apology — today I found a bunch of real comments in my spam folder. I hate that I forget to check there often enough! I need to see if I can get some sort of email notification when comments goes there.

Anyway, I’m very sorry, especially to Diane (ladieswholunchreviews) because a bunch of her comments were there. I have no idea why! So sorry!! You probably thought I was this bitch over here ignoring you!

I have remedied the situation and will try very hard to remember to check more often.

xo

caged.

heart in a cage.caged.

She holds her secrets
Tries to hide her weakness
She may want to let you in
Yet stops before she begins

She knows how to lie
Secrets behind her eyes
Afraid you will deceive her
Though she was once a dreamer

She protects her heart
You can’t rip it apart
Inside her locked in a cage
Will never become love’s slave

She cries every night
Desperate to stop the fight
Dying to open her soul
Tired of being alone

She dreams of falling
Unlocked without warning
By the man who holds the key
Cage open and love set free
heart.

a walk in the city. (reblog)

I wrote this tiny piece of fiction a very long time ago (part of something longer that never quite worked out). I posted it here 5 months ago when my blog was less than 2 weeks old… and I had maybe 3 followers. Now that I have over 300 (holy crap), I thought I’d share it again. Hope you enjoy it. And yes, I fully own how ridiculously romantic I am.

the real seven.

Just a little something silly… hope it makes you laugh…

the real seven.

You know grumpy, sleepy and doc
And the rest of the height-challenged flock
But it was all a clever façade
This is who they really are:

Happy has a reason he’s always jolly
Underneath it all, this bad boy’s naughty

Bashful’s red face isn’t shyness
He hides a bottle of Jack in his cap, your highness

Dopey is not a big-eared fool
His cash-crop earns him more than those jewels

Sleepy is desperate for a nap
Exhausted after nights at the strip club with Hap’

Sneezy’s not sick, he has mastered fake
No one suspects how often he and Dopey get baked

Grumpy stomps around the cottage
Angry that Boozy Bashful won’t share his bottle

Doc is the most interesting one of all
Because his secret is by far the most fun
Doc’s The Doctor under his hood
He often flees to his Tardis hidden in the woods

I bet you thought you knew about these seven
Now you’re enlightened about their transgressions
You may wish you hadn’t read these details
But I hope I haven’t spoiled the fairytale.

happily ever after.

the fixer.

the fixer. a poem by sandra.

Mommy, I dropped my cup
Milk is all over the floor
Don’t worry, love
I will fix it.

Daughter, I did something wrong
My tv’s stuck on channel three
I know what to do, Mom
I will fix it.

Sister, I could use your advice
You’ve been through this before
Of course I will help you, Sis
I will fix it.

Mom, I am not sure
My homework is perfect
Honey, let me see
I will fix it.

Wife, my tire is flat
Can I borrow your car?
Yes, babe, give me your keys
I will fix it.

Friend, please come over
I think I broke my blender
Be right over with mine
I will fix it.

Me, I am exhausted
I need a moment alone
Can’t let them see me break
I will fix it.
……Later.

born of love.

born of love.

Limerick challengeBirth

He cannot stop thinking of her –
One day is clear, the next a blur.
But hate is born of love –
Must have below to be above.
Is she joy or tragedy? He’s not sure.
