I knew. #poetry

From the moment we met
I knew
you were bad for me.
The way you stared
and made my insides scream
would be my ruining.
I knew
you would hurt me.
And I would never recover
from the shattered heart
you would leave behind
I knew
It was going to happen.
And I let you do it anyway.

About what sandra thinks

Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.

Oh the treacherous heart…. right? Brain can tell you a million reasons to run in the other direction but the heart wants what the heart wants!

    • Thanks… You know, it’s weird… I have been in a slump for so long that I still feel like everything I write sucks… but I keep posting them anyway to see what others think since I am far from objective with my own writing. (Although I can’t imagine anyone would come right out and say, “hey, this sucks.” 🙂

  10. Heartbreaking… this is me so many many times. It’s wondeful so feel such a pure adoration of someone but the pain of unrequited or even flat our rejected affection is a pain of truest horrors.
You’ve captured these moments well… too well for someone who deserves happiness ♥

It’s amazing how similar our experiences can be and how others have the ability to capture the events of a lifetime in a few words. Beautiful. My soul resonates.
