[Disclaimer: I am not a musician. I can sing. I remember most of the recital piece I played on the piano when I was 6. But I’m not a musician. I know what I like and what I don’t like and what will likely be the soundtrack when I arrive in hell.]

This band had a fun little song about five years ago called Ho Hey. I kind of loved that song. But… I forgot about them after that. [What a bitch, right?] Last year, they released a new record… and I don’t think I’m going to forget them again. One of the ‘big‘ songs from their album Cleopatra is the title track…
But… Ophelia is my favorite…
Oh, Ophelia
You’ve been on my mind, girl, like a drug
Oh, Ophelia
Heaven help the fool who falls in love
Oh, that’s a nice song,. I like IT!

Good band, for sure. I like Cleopatra too. Much less “pop’y”, if that makes sense. 😃

I like Cleopatra, too. I couldn’t decide which video to post… I guess I was into Ophelia last night. I don’t know what pop is anymore. LOL. I hear crap on the radio… and I hear stuff I like… all in the same place. I like the dude’s voice… and I love the piano. 🙂

That’s true. Even country sounds like pop these days. Lots of bleed over between genres.

Country… *shudder* not bleeding over enough for me not to rip my ears off. 😀

I’m with you on most, new country at least. But old country, bluegrass, and rock-a-billy are terrific. I have lots in my collection that is fantastic. Dolly, Emmylou, George Jones, Willie, Waylon, Merle. That’s real country, and I sprinkle it in. Plus, things like Lucinda Williams, Lyle Lovett, kd Lang, etc, that aren’t true country but have a country influence, are prominent in my stuff. Maybe it just happened by osmosis from living in the south, but there’s some real talent and merit in some country. But, to each their own. I’m no true fan of rap, even though I like some. I listen to abday own a bunch, and there’s some of all genres in there. I’ll give anything a listen.

I don’t think I could listen to any of that. Oh… I don’t care for rap either.

Hmmm. I’ll slide ya’ a couple suggestions, countryish in nature, but pretty friggin’ good. You may be familiar with these, but if not, check em out if ya’ want. The first two, turn up a little loud:
“Dirtfloor Cracker” by Mofro
“Can’t Let Go” by Lucinda Williams
and
“Gringo Honeymoon” by Robert Earl Keen

I adore Ho Hey. I used to never remember the name of the group so I’d be somewhere and the song would play and I’d ask everyone around me if they knew who it was, 🙂 I’ll have to listen to their newer stuff! Thanks for reminding me ❤
