a poem about regret.

couple-shadows

I always thought
. . .you were too perfect to be real
maybe that’s why
. . .I never believed you could feel
those things you said
. . .the sweet words spoken from your heart
and I gave up
. . .before we had a chance to start
falling in love
. . .like two strangers captivated
by something new
. . .we had never anticipated
now I’ve lost you
. . .and it’s too late to change the past
but the thing is
. . .I miss you and I know at last
we could have been
. . .so much more than I’ll ever know
you were the one
. . .I never should have let you go

About what sandra thinks

Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.

PS: That was quite ‘too much ‘ mention in a comment but Just couldn’t resist those unrestrained thoughts:-)
