a poem about regret.

couple-shadows

I always thought
. . .you were too perfect to be real
maybe that’s why
. . .I never believed you could feel
those things you said
. . .the sweet words spoken from your heart
and I gave up
. . .before we had a chance to start
falling in love
. . .like two strangers captivated
by something new
. . .we had never anticipated
now I’ve lost you
. . .and it’s too late to change the past
but the thing is
. . .I miss you and I know at last
we could have been
. . .so much more than I’ll ever know
you were the one
. . .I never should have let you go

About what sandra thinks

Sandra began writing when she was a sixth grader. She is a teller of stories through poetry, fiction, and tales from her own life. And she thinks too much. Read, think, enjoy, laugh.

  2. I came across your blog for the first time and I am Just going on reading! I have just kept aside my work and simply iterating the lines of the poems in my mind! I am making each such writer friends of mine read it!!
PS: That was quite ‘too much ‘ mention in a comment but Just couldn’t resist those unrestrained thoughts:-)
