chains. #poetry

nothing explains
the army of pains
running through my veins
my very soul maintains
the hurt it contains
and all hope remains
lost in other domains
while my voice complains
of violent rains
through windowpanes
and crashing planes
inside hurricanes
i’ve tried the retrains
my head never retains
the happy refrains
it only abstains
from the love it obtains
and loneliness reigns
and my heart remains
bound by these chains

©2018 what sandra thinks

I think this is only the second time I’ve written a poem where all of the lines rhyme… this is the first. I’m not sure how I feel about it… but there it is.

About what sandra thinks

Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.

  2. Well, I know how I feel about it, and I feel good. Not because of the hurt and the pain, but because the poem is very good. It shows just what you are capable of, and that is a lot more than you think you are. I feel good, and I hope that you feel a little bit good too.

  3. It’s interesting that the only double use of any rhyming word is “remains”, and what remains is heart, and hope. There has to be a bit of karma in that happenstance, and that deserves an extra big hug.

  4. Very well written, especially that it all rhymes. I couldn’t pull that off if I tried. LOL! 🙂

  6. I think it took incredible skill to come up with rhyming words that still maintained the story to a tee. Well friggin’ done, my dear! 😃👍🏻

Wow! You are amazing! The poem flows beautifully and then to have all of its rhyme… fabulous! Calling Lin-Manuel Miranda… 😅

I do poetry/hip hop. I like your poem. Every line rhymes is ok. Say it out loud, find a good pace to say it at. It can be weird for sure.#yothots#poetry
