This week’s theme for ‘Song Lyric Sunday‘ is… parties/partying.
You’d think this would be a really difficult one for me. And you’d be right. I am not the bouncy, bubbly party type. I am me.
So… it’s the anti-party song. And it is one of the greatest songs of all time (if not the greatest song of all time). It contains some of my favorite lyrics ever… and I thought of it immediately upon seeing this week’s theme. I guess that says something about me, huh? I’m not sure exactly what… but it definitely says something.
The anti-party bit that popped into my head:

That’s all too familiar to me. I suck at social events. I just stand there… alone… feeling awkward… barely able to speak to anyone… and then I go home and feel terrible. (Part of why I can’t make friends.) But we don’t need to talk about that again. Let’s just focus on Morrissey and his genius lyrics.

Perfectly opposite take on the prompt. I hate parties and social events too. Well, unless I’m there with at least one close friend or my wife. I dread going to things where I’ll be meeting all these new people or sitting at a table at a wedding with not one person I know. I try to pass on that kinda shit if I can. 😃

I’m not the party type either. All that false bonhomie, loud talk across each other and drunken idiots. I once was that person, but not for many a long time.

I just avoid those sorts of things now… 🙂 The Smiths have been a favorite of mine for a very looong time.

It sounds like many of us have similar feelings about parties. I’ve never been the “party hard” type and usually find myself in a quiet corner, especially if I don’t know anyone. I really appreciated your take on the prompt this week. They lyrics to this song are brilliant! Thanks for sharing!

I’m not a partier myself. Family and very, very close friends is enough for me. Dancing around my house to music is my own party! 🙂

😆 I could make one. Just tell me the flavor. Don’t want to boast but I used to be a master at cheesecakes in my teenage years…🍰 but never ate any!

It’s one of my favorite things… yum. My favorite kind is just a plain cheesecake with gooey, syrupy strawberries on top. But… I would eat pretty much any kind. I have a recipe for “cinnamon roll cheesecake” that I’ve been wanting to try…
