week 2: self — in 20 minutes
I tend to put too much pressure on myself… to do everything and do it perfectly. It’s ridiculous. So… I set a timer for this drawing… 15 minutes to draw, 5 minutes to mess with it. No chance of perfection!
Posting this is kind of a huge deal for me since I’ve never posted a picture of myself. I figure I’m still mostly anonymous with a drawing that I did in 20 minutes… and if I freak out, I can always take it away… ha!
I think I look about 16 (and I am not)… but I do think it looks like me. I guess it doesn’t really matter… you don’t have any basis for comparison! (Well, three of you do…)
you captured the emotion…nice!

The bit that I like best is that, despite everything that you’ve been through, and are going through, that you still see yourself that way – beautiful. That fills me with joy ❤

Thank you… ❤❤ I kind of try to separate things. I don’t always succeed… I certainly have days when I feel ugly as hell… but I try to tell myself it’s not me… It’s everything around me.

Lovely, Sandra! Though I’m jealous of the three who’ve apparently seen your face! 😝 I really do need to start drawing. I say that all the time, lol. Yours is so good for 15 minutes. And giving yourself a time limit is such a good idea.

Thank you! 🙂 I had to do the time thing because if I hadn’t, I’d probably still be drawing it. And I drew it yesterday! LOL I think I have to do one of the weeks in “Pictionary” style — draw it in 60 seconds. That should be hilarious. Maybe I’ll even let people guess what it is. 😀

Ha ha, you totally should do that! 😝

That’s fantastic! I bet that’s exactly what you looked like at 16. 😘 Even more fantastic that you drew it so fast!

Except the look on my face would likely have been one with much more angst… 🙂

Always… Are you going to draw more?

I will draw more… but of myself? I don’t know… my 52-week list has “self” listed twice… now and near the end…

Oh this is great! I wish you gave us the image to compare to? ;). What is this 52 weeks of drawing? Did you create this challenge? I love the idea

Thank you! I found a list online… it looks to be from a few years back… I’m not really sure. I came across it accidentally. A lot of the weeks are silly things. I may not use all of them — I may make up some of my own instead. Maybe I’ll rewrite the whole thing. I have done very little planning for this! The image I used for this is a terrible quality picture from my phone. No no… you definitely don’t want to see that! 🙂

You are an amazing artist. It’s a great self portrait and you drew that sweet beautiful face in 15 minutes? Wow, beautiful!

Well… 15 minutes with a lot of touching up after! I usually end up with something wrong with the face… Nose or mouth not quite in the right place… so I look like a mutant. 😃 But thank you, love. ❤

Awesome! And quite coquettish 😉 Always so jealous of people who are able to draw portraits – mine always end up looking like some disfigured cartoon character!

Thank you! I usually have to move the facial features… I often start out with a mutant… 😃

Take this with a grain of salt because I’m a terrible artist…but I think this is lovely! And your idea to set a timer on your project is brilliant. I too am a perfectionist and will continue to poke and prod at something until it’s perfect, which of course rarely happens, so it stresses me out. The perfectionist in me thinks the perfectionist in you is doing a pretty good job though!

It doesn’t matter if you’re a great artist or not… you’re still seeing it! So thank you. 🙂 Yes… never reaching my perception of perfection makes me crazy. Well, crazier…

Wonderful, S! So good for 15 minutes! I can draw trees and rocks, but portraits are way out of my league, unless they’re smiley faces 😀 Thank you for sharing!

Thanks, Julie! Faces are my least favorite thing to draw… without a timer, I would have spent hours trying to make it look “perfect” and been frustrated when I couldn’t! 🙂

Beautiful picture, Sandra! Setting a timer is an excellent idea. I also tend to spend far too much time trying to make something perfect.

Thank you! It seems many of us are perfectionists. I tend to read my posts at least 5 times before publishing, too. But I bet lots of us do that!
