I was recently tagged for the Mystery Blogger award by Lennon and Simon… two people I have the pleasure of calling my friends. Thank you both for thinking of me! I don’t usually do these things, but I ♥ my friends so I’ll sort of do it… without following the rules, of course.
First… I’m supposed to list 3 things about myself. I should probably double that… 3 for each… so… 6 things. (I know, you are already astounded by my phenomenal math skills.) I have no idea how I’m going to come up with 6 things you don’t already know…
And… I have five questions to answer from each friend… so ten questions. (I know, again with my mathematical genius.)
Ready? Here we go…
Three things about me… times two…
1 – I guess I could be wrong, but about 4 years before I met my now-husband, I think I lost the love of my life. He was the one that got away… And I often wonder how my life would be different if I never lost him…
2 – One of my best friends from college (who I lost touch with a long time ago) is now a lawyer in NYC and one of his clients is Eminem. (I guess that’s not really about me… it’s about him. Oh, this part is about me – I caught mono from him.)
3 – I am much better at answering specific questions than coming up with random things about myself.
4 – I have broken my left ankle. Twice. In the same place. The same place on my ankle… not the same geographic location. In fact, the breaks happened in different states.
5 – I am afraid of the dark. There are nightlights scattered around my home.
6 – I am addicted to Late Night with Seth Meyers… and it’s killing me that he’s off this week… I don’t want any more repeats! Do you hear me, Mr. Meyers!? Yeah, probably not.
Simon’s five questions…
1 – What was the last picture you took (I liked that one)?
Ha… well this is pretty funny… I built this a couple of days ago when my daughter had LEGO everywhere. My little surfer guy… catching a wave…
2 – What was the last piece of music you bought?
I cannot remember the last time I paid for music. But um… I acquire all my music legally.
3 – What was the last thing you did or place you went that made you think ‘wow’ and why?
I went for a drive and saw this… and I thought, ‘Wow, these people are insane.’
4 – What is your greatest hope this Christmas?
Christmas, of course, is over. I was hoping for a bazillion dollars to ease some anxiety, but alas, that was not meant to be…
5 – What’s the wildest work party you’ve been to and what happened?
I HATE work parties. I do everything I can to avoid them, but sometimes, I have to go, no matter how anxious and awkward and uncomfortable I am. A few years ago, I went to an office Christmas party. A couple of hours in, I saw one of the younger girls… probably about 25… sitting on the lap of one of the VPs… arms around his neck… giggling and tossing her hair around. And… they left together. (Of course he was married… with kids… and he was kind of icky… and it was kind of gross.)
Lennon’s five questions…
1 – What’s your favorite concert you’ve ever went to and why is it your favorite?
There is someone whose live shows are always amazing. Not flashy or gimmicky… just a really talented guy who I love hearing live – more than on studio albums. I’ve seen him live 6 times. Once, I had these 3rd row seats… just off center… and I have no idea why, but he caught my eyes and I got this smile from him. I didn’t think he was really looking at me specifically… until he tossed me a guitar pick. Perfect aim, right into my raised hand. Ridiculous, I know. It was probably random… but it was a moment… with John Mayer.
2 – Have you ever done something shameful but don’t regret it? If so, feel like sharing that deep secret with us?
I should devote an entire post to this question! Instead, I can link you to the big one… I tagged it as ‘short fiction‘ so it would show up in the fiction menu up there^ but it’s not fiction… A little follow up was posted here.
3 – If you won the lottery what would you do? Where would you live? What would you buy? Would you give some to charity and if so, what would that charity be?
And it’s an enormous payout right? Like a hundred million dollars? I would feel a GIANT weight lifted from my shoulders. I’d like to move to Hawaii. No, Italy. No, Paris. Hell, I’ll just get a place in all three. And I’ll hire a hot surf instructor… and a hot Italian guy to teach me to speak Italian… and a hot French guy for French… and a hot finance guy to be my finance guy. I am a greedy bitch but if I donated, it would be something related to cancer research… mental health awareness… and to the ORWSP. (Organization to Rid the World of Stupid People. And yes, I just made that up.)
4 – Do you cook? If so, what’s the best thing you cook and can you share the recipe with us possibly? Please????
I cook and I bake. I make lots of delicious meals (and have successfully modified some into healthier meals without making them any less delicious). I’m not sure if I have a ‘best’… Same with baking… I have a few dozen favorite dessert recipes…
This meal is rich… but so delicious. Tastes like it came from an Italian restaurant… Creamy Tuscan Garlic Chicken
And a dessert… my favorite cheesecake bars ever… YUM! Vanilla Bean Cheesecake Bars
5 – Do you have any special plans for 2017 or hopes?
I just want my life to get better… figure out why I’m so stuck… discover what happiness feels like. And I want to run away with a hot guy. I’ll come back for the kids… I’m not a monster.
Thanks again, Lennon & Simon… You’re the best!
