song of the day. #1

song of the day.
Every day doesn’t have a song of the day. Just some days. Or more than some. Or less.

I was thinking (a horrible idea, really)… since you already know so much about me (sorry, please don’t be scared), you might as well have a soundtrack, too.

I feel that I should mention…
I really love the music I love.
I really hate the music I hate.
I tend to have months-long obsessions with a few artists at a time…
… but I will try not to bore you.

song of the day

Things have not been fabulous lately. (As if that’s big news…) And until I’m able to scale a few extremely tall mountains, they’re not going to be. Perhaps you’d suggest something happy and upbeat to help. But I would punch happy and upbeat in the face right now. Oh, hell, I’d punch them in the face always.

No, I need to be with someone who gets me. So obviously… Morrissey. Obviously.

This song is the birthplace of quite possibly my favorite Morrissey-ism ever…

I wear black on the outside because black is how I feel on the inside…

Obviously, I am not the owner of nor do I have any rights to this song… but everything else… © 2016 what sandra thinks

About what sandra thinks

Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.

  1. Perfect song, Lovely Sandra. Simply love The Smiths…
Just heard Radiohead’s cover of “How Soon is Now” and although it was ok…no one does it like the original!
Wear black all you want. I love your darkness. It’s part of who you are. Although I do wish I could scale that mountain for you…or at least punch someone in the face.
    Hugs to you and Morrissey

  2. Great choice, but somehow I doubt that’s true. As for punching someone in the face? Yeah, it’ll hurt your hand, but damnit, sometimes it is sooooo worth it.

haha I doubt it! my tastes range from bing crosby all the way up to current pop music, with a heavy concentration around late 90’s groups/bands 😛

            • Well… you may be horrified! None of those are on my ‘list’…! Hmm… I wasn’t planning to have a song every day… but maybe I will. I’ve got so so many…

                • I’m sure I’ll have plenty of those! I like some stuff that was/is popular, I guess, but most mainstream overplayed pop makes me cringe. Some stuff I like may be popular but I’m often unaware of its popularity unless/until the artist shows up on Saturday Night Live or something. And country makes me want to cut off my ears.

I only have MAYBE 3 basic country songs, and a few pop-country. but that’s it. I’m so far removed from mainstream though working over here, and when I’m home I always just plug in my ipod into my car so I don’t really listen to the radio very much for new songs haha

                    • Oh, ever since the greatest radio station of all time was bought and destroyed in 2012, I hardly ever listen to the radio! If something new and awesome shows up, I might discover it through a SNL appearance or something like that… or someone will tell me about it and I’ll check it out… (though sometimes, it’s crap…lol)
