I am a complex individual. (And that is a gross simplification of my disastrous brain.) But I do love that my kids have inherited some of me — the good things, anyway. (I guess there are a few…) But, of course, they got some of the crap, too. Poor kids.
I hate that my son worries a lot.
I love that he is a math genius and that he has amazing artistic talent and a great sense of humor.
I hate that my daughter loves dessert so much. And dip. All kinds of dip. (With chips, obviously.)
I love her beautiful blue eyes and her selflessness and spontaneity. And her love of creative writing.
Last night, the sunset was beautiful. But we have too many trees around our house. I grabbed my keys… “I’m going out to look for a better view… Who wants to come?”
Predictably, only little Miss Spontaneity. My husband and son barely looked up from their phones. [I was so tempted to stop for ice cream on our way home. Lazy boys get none! But, now, that’s setting a bad example for my girl… right? I guess super-bitch with ice cream wouldn’t be a good thing for her to inherit…]
Off we went. Of course, time does not stand still so I knew we had to go somewhere nearby. The lake… close enough. Kind of.
Please excuse my terrible photography skills. Also, I took these with my phone. (That’s a good excuse for crappy photos, right?)
Pretty!!! And who doesn’t love dip?

Thanks! My weird husband has the ability to walk by dip. I don’t get it!

Beautiful! I’ve tried to do the ice cream thing but I end up buying it for the other son too. I’m just too nice, lol.

Thanks! 🙂 I probably would do the same for my son… But not for my husband. He’s on his own. 😛

These are both really great. I love the reflection in the water in the scold one. Oh, and yes, dip good, dip is great! And, bad example or not, ice cream would’ve been had! 😃

🙂 I think it’s completely by chance that these pictures came out even a little bit decent. I tried my phone’s panorama setting. That went, uh, less well. They look sort of cool… but they are blurry. I’m sure I went too fast.
I really want dip now. Damn!

I love the pictures, I love dip and I love ice cream! This is a Grand Slam! 🙂

Thanks… I’ve succeeded in giving myself a huge craving for dip. And chips. Good think I’m lazy and don’t have them in the house. Ice cream, on the other hand…

Beautiful shots! I’ve been thinking about getting a real camera because of the better ability to get low light photos. Queso dip, please! 😃

I actually have a real camera. But when the girl and I ran away, I didn’t grab it. The sun was disappearing……
My mom makes this creamy delicious dill dip. It’s great with chopped up veggies… but, of course, I prefer chips. I grew up on Ruffles. lol

Sounds yummy! And chips are technically vegetables! 😉

Did you know that potato chips are actually the healthiest “chip”? Ingredients: potatoes, oil, salt. Most other things (Doritos, Fritos, etc…) are loaded with all kinds of crap. Reading that article was all I needed. LOL

Stunning!!! Being a conscientious, mindful parent is the best we can do! They will have some of our bad traits along with the good. We can do our best to guide them in the most healthy way possible with what they’ve inherited. And buy ice cream. 💜

Awesome pics, Sandra! And now you’ve got me thinking about ice cream. Good thing my hubby just got some of my fave mint choc chip 😀

Thank you! It’s a good idea to always have ice cream on hand. Or a bad idea if you’re like me and want to eat all of it. 🙂

Ah, you’re too kind! I get lucky a lot and like playing around with them. But seriously, these are great. I like the first one especially.

The second one is, of course, zoomed in, which never turns out as well. But also, the first includes more of the clouds… I prefer that one, too. By the way, I thought these were my 2 best out of about 15… 🙂

That’s the beauty of digital – snap away until you find the best ones. I take literally hundreds and get maybe 15 good ones!

Me, too. Well, sometimes I get no good ones. You should see how many I take when I try to photograph my kids for a Christmas card! You’d think they could cooperate but it was actually easier when they were both under 5!

Oh, I couldn’t deal with having to do that – and I’m no good at capturing people. It was bad enough that we had to design Christmas cards at school today so they could be sent off to the printers. I can’t think about the C-word until November at the absolute earliest!!

Oh, I know. I hate that. I still have my daughter’s birthday in Nov. I can’t think about Christmas. Sometimes I do get lucky with that picture… but every year now, I wonder when they’re too old to be featured in a Christmas card. But the designer in me loves to make the card… 🙂

Haha! My daughter made breakfast this morning for herself and my son. He is totally spoiled because she loves to do things! So my 8 year-old daughter can handle taking care of herself around here better than my 11 year-old son. Must be because she’s a girl…
