I’m not a bottle of wine
I do not get better with age
I should be consumed
The moment I am poured
Drink me and drop the glass
No reason to hang on
It’s hard to find the worth
In the used and tossed away
I don’t think I’m recyclable
Just plain old needless trash
can I help you find something?

Thanks… I guess it kind of flows when writing about what’s closest to me…. Me.

I love it when that happens. It definitely produced an amazing piece.

I have a friend that makes beautiful art with old wine bottles… Just saying. ❤

You’re very kind. ♥ But I’m pretty sure I won’t be made into beautiful art anytime soon. Or, you know, ever.

I am not in a place to be handing out words of encouragement right now but I think we can be way harder on ourselves than anyone else. And that’s probably not helpful but its true.

I know. I mean, this little piece here is basically me calling myself trash. Even people who don’t like me probably wouldn’t call me that… (but I cannot be sure…)

Should be savored and cherished, yes. Love this, Sandra. ♡

Thanks, Eric. ♥ Maybe someday I will be recycled. Until then, I’ll live in the dump with Wreck-It Ralph. He seems nice!

Or maybe you can take this medal 🎖 and go live in the Penthouse. 😊

🙂 Cute. I have no idea why I was worried you wouldn’t get that. You’re a parent. (Plus I think I may like that movie more than my kids do…)

I love that movie. I never object when the kids want to watch it

I love it, too. The bad/good thing is often quoted in my house… I suppose when someone is being bad… 😀 “I’m bad, and that’s good. I will never be good, and that’s not bad…”

Powerfully written. But with all due respect, I disagree with you dear Sandra. You do get better with age. I bet you are so much better now than youre college days. Sorry, for arguing. Oh, by the way, nicely written.

Thanks for that… I’m not sure I believe it at the moment, but I appreciate that you think so.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. I know you have that tendency.

Okay, what on earth happened? It’s not just general stuff about your birthday. It’s an incredible poem and I can see if your life inspired it,but if you really believe that, you’re wrong. And I’m not. Email me if you want…

I am alright. I was rather focused on ‘the bad’ last night when I wrote this. And I guess… feeling old. Of course, in reality, no one could tell by looking at me that my age changed this weekend. I’m just irrational sometimes. Or most of the time…

Okay, as long as you don’t truly believe what you wrote. It was a fantastic poem, though.

Well, sometimes I do. But it’s not, like, a permanent thing.

Okay, I just don’t want to read about you online tomorrow unless it’s cause you won the lotto or something!

That will never happen (you reading about me online). Unless I get arrested for public nudity or something. BTW, I am going to post something shortly… it will make you feel better. About me and my moodiness, I mean. ‘Cuz it changes like um… something that changes a lot. 🙂

Good! I don’t always think everything you write is autobiographical, either, just some of the comments threw me… 🙂

Some days it seems like I go through, like, 5 moods. Some them are kinda bad. I’m usually okay… eventually. 🙂

Hmmm, she doesn’t think much of herself. I think her value lies despite her age, whatever her age. Drink her up now, but keep her and drink her for years to come, she gets smoother with age, more refined, and lovely with each year.

That’s a lovely interpretation. ♥

I hope by the time you read this comment that wine has mellowed. Beautiful poem Sandra but know that the best wines are savored and appreciated. As you are. xo

Fantastic, I love this, I would prefer to be washed and dried and polished up and left in a handy spot to be used again. 🙂
