Hello lovely readers. Welcome to part 13. This is the final post for this story. Next week, I’ll start something new that will span just 1 to 3 weeks.

Also, please note: if you read all the way to the end, you’ll be in R territory. Or NC-17

Previously in Part 3

Kate arrived home. In a futile attempt to stop her tears and to relax, she stepped into a hot shower.

Des stared up at Kate’s window for a long time before finally taking a cab home. But knowing he couldn’t wait any longer for answers, he sent a message. ‘Call me…’

Present Day (continued from part 12… and after parts 1 and 2 and 3)…

Dialing right now…

“Des… are you okay?”

“No. Mish, I need your help…”

“Anything, D. You know that.”

“I need to know…” He had to take a deep breath. “Who the hell did Katie leave with tonight?”

“Oh… it was nothing. He’s a coworker. They shared a cab. That’s all.”

“Then why has she been so distant with me?”

“Well…” Michelle hesitated for a moment.

“I’m sorry, Mish. I don’t mean to put you in this position… asking you to tell me things Katie told you in confidence…”

“Oh, to hell with that!” she said. “This is ridiculous!”

“What?”

“Des, Kate got back from her trip early. She went to see you.”

“No she didn’t…”

“Shut up and listen to me,” she said, in the nicest possible way. “On her way to your place, she stopped to get you a coffee.”

“Oh God.” He knew.

“She saw you in there…”

“With Nat,” Des finished that sentence himself. “My God, that’s why she hates me right now.”

“Des, she does not hate you. I don’t think she can,” Mish said. “But she was upset. She said you were smiling… hugging… She said you looked happy…”

“Mish. I met Nat to give her back some things she left at my place. Then she apologized… for pretty much everything.”

“And the smiling? And hugging?”

“She told me I belong with Katie. She told me to be with her… to be happy. And we hugged goodbye. That’s all it was. God, I was smiling for Katie.”

“I knew it!” Mish said. “Damn, I am two-for-two this week!”

“Well, I’m so glad you’re having a good week.”

“Sorry, D,” she said. “I told Kate to talk to you. I told her to stop imagining crazy things. But she is scared to death that you think what happened between you two was a mistake.”

“God, no.” Again, Des got a flash of that amazing night. “It was not a mistake.” He had to catch his breath. “It was… perfect.” He sighed softly.

“Tell her.”

“I’m trying. She won’t talk to me.”

“She will. Try again.”

With a hand covering his heart, Des closed his eyes and saw Katie’s smile. And in that moment, he knew exactly what to do.

bed.Kate rolled over in her bed and stared at the spot where Des slept after they made beautiful love that night. She had to close her eyes for a moment to replay it in her mind. It was easy to do. She’d done it a million times.

With a sigh, she dragged herself out of bed and shuffled to the kitchen for coffee. She didn’t care that she’d already had two cups before she went back to lie on her bed. And after pouring the third, she walked back into her bedroom again. She opened her closet and stared at her new dress. I have to go tonight. Don’t I? I do…

Her phone interrupted her thoughts, stopping her imagination before it wandered any further.

 “Hi Mish.”

“Hi Kate.”

“Hi.”

“You already said that,” Mish laughed. “You okay?”

“Yeah. I think so.”

“So tonight… I’m coming over. We can get all gorgeous together… and I’ll give you sexy hair.”

With a little laugh, Kate had to ask. “Why here?”

Mish confessed without hesitation. “We were afraid you might try to back out.”

“We?”

“Yes.” Mish didn’t explain. And Kate didn’t push for an answer. She smiled at her dress while her friend detailed the day’s itinerary. Until she heard the buzzer by the door.

“Mish, my doorman’s buzzing. I’ll see you later, okay?”

“Hi Jimmy.”

“Afternoon, Kate. I have a delivery for you. On my way up.”

Kate thanked him and minutes later, he was at her door handing her a box, deceptively heavy for its size.

She sat down and rested the package on her lap. Only her name appeared on the box. Nothing more. She tore off the tape and slowly lifted the lid. She already knew who sent it. And the moment she saw the contents of the box, tears fell from her eyes.

Slowly, Kate raked her fingers through the giant pile of red crayons. Until she found a note. Her shaky hands unfolded the page.

Kate dropped the note on top of the crayons and laid the box aside. With a deep breath, she wiped her tears and reached for her phone.

“Katie.”

“Des. I accept your apology.” She felt him smile at her words. And she felt tears again fall from her eyes.

“Thanks, Katie. Sorry it took so long.”

“It’s okay, kid. But I never want to wait twenty-two years to end a fight again.” His laugh made her smile.

“Me neither.” Des was silent for a moment before he spoke her name. “Katie?”

“Yeah?”

“Open your door.”

Her heart leapt into her throat. She left her phone behind and hurried to her door. She pulled it open and found him. Standing there. Right in front of her. Smiling and happy and perfect.

“Ka……”

She wouldn’t even let him finish speaking her name. She couldn’t. Her hands covered his cheeks and pulled his mouth to hers. She finally had the delicious taste of him again and she never wanted to let it go. With his arms wrapped around her, he nudged her inside and the door fell closed. And he tried to speak again.

“Honey…” Their lips played and teased and never wanted to part. But he had to tell her. “The coffee shop… Katie…”

“I know.” More teasing. “Des… I know.” She turned them around and pushed him toward her bedroom, kissing him with every step. “I’m sorry…”

“It’s okay,” he panted, his words warm breaths on her face. “Just don’t ever… hide again. Not from me…”

She backed him into her bed and stopped. “Never.”

“I think,” he mumbled, slipping his hand into her hair, “you love to be difficult.”

“I am not… difficult…” She smiled and kissed his mouth, sucking his lower lip between hers before letting him speak again.

“My God…” He pulled her closer and took his mouth from hers. “I missed you.” His lips kissed her cheek and slowly wandered to her neck. And he knew she would melt in his arms.

“Des… can I have you now?”

“Oh honey…”

The moment he took his kisses from her warm skin, she snuck into the curve of his neck and sucked on him. For a moment, she teased his ear before laying tiny sweet kisses behind it. When she heard his breathy moan, it stirred everything inside her.

Slowly, she tasted her way back to his mouth. Nipping at each other gently at first, they finally let their tongues play again, tangling and tasting and loving each other. When finally their mouths parted, they panted softly. He pulled her closer and she felt his heart pounding. And she smiled.

hug.

“Are you okay?” she whispered.

“Mm… yes. You’re just… beautiful… sweet…” His fingers sank into her hair and his thumb ran slowly over her cheek. “I cannot figure out how I was so blind for so long.”

“I’ve been wondering the same thing.”

“You’ve been wondering how I was so blind?” He smiled.

She laughed softly. “I meant me…” She ran a finger over his perfect smile. “But yes, rock star… how were you so blind?” Again she laughed.

“I have no idea… because you are perfect.” He tried to bite her finger but she pulled it away and gave him her mouth.

“Des,” she whispered, “I want you to undress me now…”

“Oh God…”

Between delicious little tastes and kisses, he pulled every single thread from her body. His eyes took her in from her face to her toes and back. “Katie…” He struggled to find words for her. He slid his hands slowly over her shoulders. “You are beautiful,” he mumbled. But those words weren’t strong enough to express what he really thought. No words were. With a long, sweet breath, he bent his head to hers and kissed her parted lips.

“Des…” She laid her hands on his chest and leaned to kiss him over his heart. Slowly, she ran her hands up to his shoulders and pushed him to sit on her bed. She climbed onto his lap, kneeling on either side of his legs. She took his face in her hands and kissed his mouth. His hands wandering over her shoulders, her back, her hips, her thighs. She kissed his neck, knowing it drove him mad. And he moaned for her exactly as she knew he would. Grasping her body tighter, he had to kiss her mouth again. Deeper, hungrier.

Her fingers dove into his hair and pulled his mouth to her neck. He licked her there, tasting her, kissing her, loving her. When he heard her whispering his name, his entire body reacted. Her grip on his head, in his hair, intensified and her head fell back. His mouth found a perfectly sweet, delicious path down her neck, over her collarbone. He wrapped his hand around her breast and teased her with his thumb until his kisses reached his hand.

“Oh God,” she whispered.

“Mm… Killer, you are perfect.” Gently, he squeezed her in his hand. “So beautiful… you feel so beautiful…” His words trailed off and he again teased her with his lips… his tongue.

“Honey,” she moaned into his mouth, “you are perfect…” She leaned closer to him, gently pushing him to lie down on her bed. She kissed him wildly and he adored every second of it.

He gently rolled her over onto her back. He froze for a moment, staring into her hungry eyes. She touched his face and slid her fingers into his hair. “Katie…” he whispered her name between kisses.

“Des…” She took his hand and brought it to her heart. “I love you.”

“Oh… sweetheart…” he kissed her again “I love you.” His mouth touched every inch of her from her neck to her shoulder to her chest. Again, he teased her. His lips surrounded her nipple and his tongue tasted her soft, sweet skin. She moaned for him, breathy and whispery and sexier than anything he had ever heard. He kissed her, licked her, sucked on her sweet skin. He knew he was driving her completely wild and he loved every second of it.

“Mm… kid…” She could barely speak. Her fingers in his hair grasped his head enough for him to know how much she loved his every move, but not enough to hurt him. “Oh God… honey…” Her moans trailed off into mere breaths and sighs.

“My love,” he whispered, still teasing her, “your moans… God, they make me crazy.”

“Baby…” She pulled on him gently until he returned his eyes to hers. “I need you…” her words came out as breaths, “… now.” She slid her hand down to take his. She brought it to her stomach and pushed it lower.

He slipped his fingers between her thighs and found the warm, sweet place she needed him to touch. He could barely breathe when he felt her there. It was the sexiest, most beautiful thing in the world to him. “Katie… oh God…” He stared at her. She sucked her lower lip into her mouth and bit down on it. She wanted every single part of him. “Honey…” he sighed, “so soft… so warm…” his lips nearly touched hers, “… so… mm…”  His fingers still playing on her, he took her mouth into delicious kisses. When she felt him push a finger inside her, she gasped and let out a long slow moan.

“Please baby…” she begged. But she didn’t have to. He wanted her as desperately as she wanted him. He had to have her. She reached to his waist, trying to undress him. He took his touch from her body and brought his hands to hers to help rid himself of his clothes.

Hot and bare beside her, he slipped his fingers into her hair. “Love, do you have any idea how beautiful you are?”

She cracked the slightest hint of a smile, feeling drunk with the passion and emotion running through her. “Maybe you should show me…”

Katie adored the sweet, sexy smile she brought to his face. He lifted himself over her, covering her body with his. She could feel him against her – all of him against all of her. Still he stared into her eyes. “Katie… I love you.” He said the words as though they were the most important words ever spoken.

She grabbed his head in her hands. “I love you, kid.”

His mouth took hers into a long intense kiss. When their lips parted and their eyes again met, he slowly entered her. Her grip on his head tightened and she moaned for him. “Des…” She pulled his mouth back to hers. She had to taste him again. As their bodies fell into perfect rhythm, their kisses did as well.

Holding himself over her with one hand, he brought the other to her hip. His touch wandered up her side until he again held her breast. When he played with her there, she had to take her mouth from his to breathe. He watched her face while their bodies rocked slowly and his fingers teased the most sensitive parts of her. With her eyes closed and her lips parted, she panted and clutched him to her. He thought she was the sexiest, most incredibly gorgeous thing he’d ever seen. And then she moaned so deeply that his brain turned to mush. He couldn’t think any more. He could only feel.

His eyes closed and he nearly pulled himself from her completely only to enter her again more deeply than before, though that didn’t seem possible. Her hold on him tightened. Their every motion, every breath, every moan and whisper intensified. And he slowed, always teasing her, never wanting the delicious anticipation to end. But at the same time, he wanted to make her feel beautiful. And when he heard her breathing his name, he gave her everything.

Des’ head rested on Katie’s shoulder. She wrapped her arms around him and held him against her. “Katie…” Des whispered through his heavy panting breaths. He took a deep breath and slid to her side. He looked at her and waited for her eyes. She placed a hand over her heart and turned to him. He smiled, loving what he saw in her eyes.

He covered her hand with his over her heart. “Are you okay, killer?”

She lifted her hand from her chest and held Des’. She brought it to her lips and kissed it so sweetly. “Yes… okay,” she spoke softly, “much better than okay… so much better…”

He leaned toward her and kissed her forehead. “So much better,” he repeated with a sigh. He let her hand go and pulled her into his arms. “Katie…” He kissed her head and kept his lips there against her hair. “You are amazing.”

“Des… you are amazing. And I want you to be amazing again… but Mish is going to be here in twenty minutes.”

“I know… and I have to go.”

“Because you’re a rock star.”

He laughed and kissed her head. “You’re adorable. And I really wish I could stay.”

Many kisses later, Des smiled for her and slipped out of her bed to collect his clothes. She crawled across the bed to him and wrapped her arms around him from behind, resting her hands on his chest. And she kissed his shoulder.

And he sighed. “You’re not making this easy…”

“I’m sorry.”

“No, you’re not.” He pulled his tee shirt over his head and turned back to her.

“No, I’m not.”

He took her face in his hands and kissed her sweet mouth. “You might want to put something on before Mish gets here…”

“I might.”

He turned away to look for his shoes and caught sight of Katie’s open closet door. “Honey… is that the dress? The one you wouldn’t tell me about?”

She hopped out of bed, still completely bare, and rushed to close her closet. “You were not supposed to see that.”

“Oh, I saw it…” He walked to her. “And I cannot wait to see you in it… and later…” He grabbed her hips. “…Out of it…”

As she kissed him, she slid a hand down his chest to the hem of his shirt. Tugging at it, she smiled. “That… is what I was thinking… when I bought it.”

“Oh… you are trying to kill me. Killer…”

She laughed softly and he did the same. And after more delicious kisses, she finally pulled on a robe and walked him to the door. He surrounded her in his arms and kissed her head. “I’ll see you soon, Katie. Very soon… God, in that dress.”

“Mm hmm… yes, you will.” He gave her a kiss that he wanted her to feel until he was with her again. He smiled and reached for the door, turning away from her. But he had to turn back. “Hey?”

“Yeah?”

“I love you, killer.”

“I love you, too, kid.”
