the rain.

rain.

Maybe I cry
At the rain
Washing away
The sunshine
Because
It reminds me
Of the brightness
I found in you
The light I lost.

I miss your words
On my page
I loved your voice
In my ear
I want your smile
Before me
I crave your touch
On my skin

So I stare at blank pages
Willing your words to appear
I surround myself with silence
Listening for your voice
I close my eyes
Dreaming of your smile
I hide in my sheets
Imagining your touch

Maybe I smile
At the rain
Washing away
The sunshine
Because
It foreshadows
Your fire
Returning to me
The light I will reclaim.

hold me.

hug.

When you hold me
And I feel your heart
Beating against mine
My doubts melt away
Suddenly I am
Beautiful
Desirable
Sexy
Wanted
Adored
And I question nothing
I believe in me
In you
In us
In your love
And I have everything
I have ever wanted
A love that rivals
Only my own

heart.

hope: a limerick.

hope.

hope.
You lifted me from the ground
You gave this princess her crown
Sent from above
You gave me such love
I hope I never let you down

weekly perk. #9

weekly perk.
This is going to be a quickie, but it is perfect. This weekend is Easter. In celebration, my daughter did a little craft project at school. It is incredibly adorable. But my favorite thing about it is the eyes.

Meet David Bunny:

david bunny.

Perhaps you can see that upon choosing googley eyes for her bunny, my cute little clone chose one blue and one green. Two eyes, two different colors. Who does this remind you of? Maybe it’s just me… but the first thought I had was David Bowie.

And David Bunny was born.

Happy Easter! (to those who celebrate the day)

Stay perky, my friends. But not so much that I want to kick you in the face.

fiction friday 18: the massage. (part 1)

fiction friday.

A little something I wrote about 13 years ago. Edited for whatever words I hated 13 years later. A bit too long for one post — I think it will be three or four parts. I hope you enjoy the story.

hunting hour.

vampires.

no moon tonight in our black sky
the perfect eve for our blood hunting
in deepest darkness on rain-soaked streets
we must find a soul to charm into trust
to feed our hunger, our need, our lust
in the misty air, we find her waiting
delicious creature begging to be bitten
nearly midnight yet she stands alone
we slowly approach and catch her eyes
you tell me without words to take her
with only a brush of my body on hers
she follows willingly, fascinated
away from streetlamps I hide her
she touches my body with curiosity
and I let her for a moment but just
against the cold brick of the wall behind
I push her gently, press my body into hers
knowing you watch with haunting anticipation
I kiss her mouth, soft, delicious, sweet
but we know the prize and we will take it
she never screams only moans in ecstasy
when I reach her neck and sink my teeth
you stare as I drink for a moment longer
until you must have the taste for yourself
we share until she runs lifeless and cold
a kiss on her cheek and we leave her to rest
I kiss your dripping mouth, sharing our kill
but your smile says you’ve not had your fill

share your world.

I have never done this before. I am a photo challenge virgin. And this one doesn’t even require photos, if I understand correctly. But I think they’ll make it much more interesting. I keep seeing posts on this guy’s blog (hi friend!) for challenges like this one and I thought I would take a spin. I have no idea if I will do more of these… but there’s always a chance.

This is Cee’s Share Your World Challenge. How it works: Three random questions to answer. A fourth question that’s one of these: “would you rather…”, a list for a specific topic, or complete a sentence. A fifth bonus question that never changes. And pingback to Cee in your post. As I mentioned, I’ve never done this before so please be gentle with me.

Questions:

 1. Wanting something to quench your thirst, what would you drink?

You already know the answer. Well, if you know me…

coffee.

Coffee. Always coffee. (But I suppose if that’s not thirst-quenching enough, I could have iced coffee. In desperation, iced tea.)

 2. What made you feel good this past week?

I took a walk on a gorgeous day to clear my head. Music in my ears helped. But when I passed this charming garden, I forgot I was anxious. It’s not my yard (I wish)… but it’s nearby. And it’s beautiful.

garden.

 3. When you’re alone at home, do you wear shoes, socks, slippers, or go barefoot?

What do you think? [Ahem, CJH]

bare feet.

Barefoot. Must be ready to try on glass slipper at any moment. (God, I need a tan.)

 4. Would you rather live where it is always hot or always cold?

At one time, I may have answered cold, but no… I would miss the heat far more than I’d miss the cold. Definitely hot. It works well with my love of sandals and bare feet (see above). And water… I love the water. I can’t imagine not living near the coast – I think I’d feel trapped. And I have to be able to drive with the windows open singing at the top of my lungs like I’m Adele or something.

ne beach.

I do hate the humidity, though. If I’m going to be all sweaty, I’d prefer having some fun to get there. But I’ll get over it while I dip my feet in the ocean.

Bonus Question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to from next week?

Last week, John did some minor internal repairs for me. On my car, people. Don’t be pervs. I know it doesn’t sound exciting, but I only had to remind him 3 times! In the week to come, I’m looking forward to seeing my mom, my sisters, my brother-in-law, and my nephew on Easter. And I confess I’m looking forward to Easter dinner because bro-in-law is a chef and his cooking is amazing.

And there may be carrot cake. Yum.

effortless.

effortless.

I must be an expert
at making you smile
because somehow
I achieved this goal
before I ever tried
I was only being me
nothing special
so it must be true
what they say
(whoever ‘they’ may be)
the soul finds its mate
effortlessly
 two hearts.
