boring.

light-bulb-sketch

Earlier today, as I read through my ‘52 weeks of drawings‘ list, I was bored. Too many of the weeks are just so… boring. I’m not sure why I think this now but didn’t when I started. Maybe it’s my mood today? I don’t know but I don’t want to be boring. And if I’m bored, I’m pretty sure you’ll be bored, too. I kind of think this whole project has been boring for everyone already.

I thought of asking you for words to replace the boring ones… which was what this post was going to be — a request for better words. But I don’t think I want better words. I want a better plan entirely.

Maybe I’m crazy to want some new weekly thing anyway… I haven’t even been keeping up with fiction friday… and I have no perks. My current weekly posts are already neglected. But clearly something is missing for me.

Your thoughts? I’d love to hear them. Or read them.

You want new drawing ideas? Or just ideas in general? How about this: take the Daily Post prompt and turn it into a drawing. Add a haiku or other short poem to go with it. You’re never boring, Babe! ❤

    • I don’t know what I want. I don’t think drawing is worth it… I feel like I suck at it and when I try to do something different (which is what I wanted to do in the first place), it doesn’t work out. I’ve trashed a lot of paper lately. I don’t know. I can design things… but drawing? It’s making me feel like hell… like a failure.

I don’t think I want new drawing ideas. I don’t know what I want… that’s the problem. I’ve tried the Daily Post thing (writing, not drawing)… I hated it. It felt forced and I hated everything I wrote! I don’t know how people write from those prompts. (Also… this has nothing to do with anything… but I really hate the word ‘prompt’… it makes me cringe. I have NO idea why…)

I guess I could do something with poetry… I haven’t written much lately. But I just don’t LOVE poetry. Sometimes, I’m really feeling it and I think I’ve written some wonderful pieces. But it was never my mission… never even a thought.

I think I’m feeling like… what’s the point? Ironic that I’ve just passed 1000 followers and I feel like there’s no point. I mean, really… why am I here? It was never for half the crap I post. And even if I followed my original ‘plan’… what’s the point?

I guess I’m just kind of lost. I should copy this comment and make it into a post… it’s a whole separate issue that I want to work through.

Ah, ok. Hmmm…. I suppose the point of blogging is whatever you want it to be. Your journal, a showcase for your writing, art, photography, or just a place to interact with friends… Or maybe its a stepping stone to the next thing. I know you’re not ready to publish, but you will be someday. This is practice and working out the kinks. Don’t throw in the towel. The comment would be a good basis for a post. See what everyone else says.

        • I feel like I have no idea what my goals are. And not just here. I’m lost. Some days I feel like there are dozens of things I want to do (but usually I lose motivation… ambition). Other days I’ve got nothing.

I feel the same way about prompts. I love the idea but it makes me feel claustrophobic. If you really want a weekly feature that you love, it has to be about something you love too. You love music so maybe something extrapolated on music? Poems or flash fiction based on John Mayer songs for a change of pace? Or take a song you love but hate the video for and “rewrite” the video for it…🤔 Just throwing out sleepy ideas when I should be asleep.

  4. You aren’t crazy for wanting something new. Don’t worry dear we just get fed up with how monotonous things can get and everyone loves surprises and most of us love doing things differently. You should probably try drawing your favourite memories in life or draw about things that cheer you up!

I’m new to your site so not familiar with the boredom of which you are speaking, however, if you figure it out, please let me know. I would love to apply it myself.
fyi: Your light bulb sketch shows much personality. LIke!

    • Oh… the light bulb sketch isn’t even mine! I found it on a free clip-art site! This sort of illustration-type stuff was what I kind of wanted to do… but I’ve found that I apparently suck at it!

put it out there and give it a chance…what do you have to lose?

        • Maybe I will just do them if/when I feel like it instead of the weekly schedule I was trying to stick with. Then… no pressure. I think. Though I may find a way to pressure myself anyway as I tend to do. 🙂 Thanks for being here!

  7. Blogging is all about writing what you want to write about. I think blogging can become tedious if you stray from the things you love, Good luck.

    • I haven’t stopped writing what I love… I just wanted to add something new (the drawings)… but that didn’t really work out the way I’d hoped. So I dropped it… So yeah, I’d say I’m writhing what I want. I certainly don’t think it’s tedious.
