He’s the one
I’m sure of it
Until he’s gone
I guess we didn’t fit
I found him
Perfect and sweet
He let me down
The scars he left run deep
It’s real this time
I know it is
But he loves her
I can never be his
When you walked in
I fell in love so fast
I was a fool once more
To believe you’d be the last.

This is my song today… and clearly my inspiration.
(Wow… this is too old to have a video… please infer nothing about my age from this matter.)
Don’t worry. You’re still young. I remember when MTV debuted. Now, that’s old. 😃

I may or may not also remember that. Ahem. Okay, move along, nothing to see here…

Oh man, just had a bad trip to the early 80’s there. I used to have a big crush on Martha Quinn, and then I saw Belinda Carlisle. Loved her back then. Whew! 😃

Loved the Go-Go’s! Can’t forget Downtown Julie Brown…

Oh I hated Downtown Julie Brown. I found her very annoying! You know, when I saw her on that anniversary special. 🙂

She waaaaaas! And my boyfriend at the time loved Head Bangers Ball.

Oh no… I was all about 120 Minutes. You know that’s back on the “MTV classic” channel! I think it’s even in its old time slot… Sunday nights… Not that I remember that… 😋

No way?!? Although, I’m so old I don’t even have MTV anymore. Lol

😃 We have way too many channels… plus Netflix! I have young-ish kids. That’s my excuse!

Oh yeah. MTV was really cool at that time. Made stars out of a lot of people. 😃

Great writing Sandra. I think both men and women often bunk that. I don’t know how you know if another person is always on the same page as you. I guess maybe that’s why honesty and communication for both parties is key.

And removing the rose-colored glasses…

I think it’s easy to wear rose colored glasses in relationships, to only see what we want or hope to see. Expectations are so powerful, and it’s much easier to have them than to be vulnerable enough to be bare with another. Young or old, this seems true. Love the song….

Yes. The problem comes when you take those glasses off… And you accidentally step on them so you can never put them on again. Glad you liked the song…

Even when it hurts I don’t want them back on…I’m speaking purely for myself, but one of my biggest fears is waking up with them back on. Allowing myself to not work or see what’s right in front of me, and those old feelings of overfull, circular thinking.

It’s true… It’s a bad thing. But sometimes I want them anyway…

Oh my word! Sorry I missed the MTV conversation! Awesome, I remember when it debuted, too. Except we lived so far out in the sticks that we couldn’t get cable, so I could only watch at my friends’ houses. But there was a show on called Friday Night Videos on one of the broadcast channels… a poor substitute!
Unfulfilled expectations, sigh… Haven’t we all been there at some point? loved the poem and the song!

Oh God, I remember Friday Night Videos. (But I was only 5 when I watched it. 😛 LOL) In my area, there was even a local video channel… that was cool because you could call in and request. Which I never did because I was only 5. 😀

I can’t believe you don’t trust me! (That’s a line from Tangled… I don’t expect people to realize that since I know all of the lines from Tangled.)

I can never remember movie lines. I think the only movie I know a lot of the lines to is Young Frankenstein. “What great knockers!”
