My eyes sink to the floor
I can’t look at you anymore
You say I’m under your skin
But so much of me I’ve kept in
The skeletons I’ve tried to hide
Are desperate to be outside
But I’m breakable and frightened
So I fight to keep them silent
And I only let you see
What you want me to be

About what sandra thinks
Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.
Secrets/skeletons are hard to hide. In the end, the usually come out. Your speaker is fragile, but better to tell the ‘story’ the secrets on your own terms, than have them come out and not the way one would like. Even showing a front or a different face, will not always hide these secrets, so your speaker needs to control them, and not let them break her.
