[Possible spoiler alert needed here… but these movies have been out for a looong time… so…]
I shed a ridiculous amount of tears at the end of Inside Out. They were falling from my eyes so fast I couldn’t stop them before they dripped down my face over my neck down between my upper lady parts until they were stopped by my bra. When the theater lights came up, I noticed everyone else was crying, too. My kids, my husband… and pretty much every other person in that theater. I think it was particular gut-wrenching for parents. But yeah, the kids cried, too.
I haven’t watched that movie again since… despite the funny parts and the presence of perfectly-casted Lewis Black.
Today, my daughter happened to find Big Hero 6 on television. I adore this movie and I’ve seen it many times. Double digits… I’ve lost count. Yet every time, I cry. God, the ending…
“Mom… are you crying?”
“No… my eyes are all watery because of this damn cold…”
Lies…
I have seen Tangled more times than any other movie, Disney or otherwise. And the tears. One would think after so many viewings, I would be over the crying thing… but no. Still gets me… every damn time. [I will now post way too many images from Tangled. Hey, at least I put them in a slideshow…]
Even just these stills are killing me.
Maybe I love the devastation followed by the perfection. Maybe I’m just that sappy. Maybe (in the case of Tangled) I’m completely taken in by the perfect man…
[Oh, by the way, I really do watch grown-up movies, too. Occasionally.]
I’m with you on Big Hero 6 (“hairy baby” is a house catchphrase) and Tangled (far superior to Frozen)… hated Inside Out though. Really badly hated. Like, wanted to leave the cinema hated. Mine seems to be a minority opinion on that!

Oh, I didn’t love Inside Out. But it still made me cry at the end. It’s not just the crying that has stopped me from ever seeing it again.
I have never understood how anyone on earth can think Frozen is anywhere close to the perfection that is Tangled! That Big Hero 6 line is repeated around here, too. But not as much as “I am not fast.” I love that. 😀

“Low battery” gets said by me a lot… I knew the guy who wrote Tangled – met him at university. I’m not at all jealous of his career path, no sirree

“Low battery” is a good one, too. Wow… the Tangled guy! I’d be jealous, too. Oh… I used to watch Tangled a minimum of once a week (with my daughter, not alone! I swear!)… for a long while. I could recite nearly the whole movie… Many lines repeated from that one, too. “Sorry… my hands are full…” and many others… 🙂

Yes! My son loves money… so the whole Flynn/Eugene singing part was so him… surrounded by enormous piles of money… it is frequently sung here.
Oh… and this seems to happen all the time. “Don’t freak out.”

I sobbed when I watched Inside Out. My husband tried to hide it, but he did too. Our son is only 5, so he felt sad, but he didn’t cry. 💕

My husband doesn’t bother trying to hide it.. haha 🙂

I watched big hero 6 with a lump in my throat. I did not see Inside out bc I heard it was going to be that way…and I cried like a baby during “Up.”
But the one that gets me now is the end of the last hobbit movie “battle of the 5 armies”
The Hobbit was a book that is deeply ingrained in my childhood…to see it played out in live action was very moving. ♡

Oh, I totally forgot about “Up”… I cried quite a lot during that one, too. ♥ I have never seen any hobbit movies!

I was never that affected by those movies as a kid – I felt sad, sure, but that was it. Now when I watch them as an adult? All the feels! I watched Lilo and Stitch the other day and teared up at a couple spots. Maybe adults are just more likely to make the connection to our personal lives?

Oh, my kids don’t usually cry during any movie. It’s usually just me… And they look at me like something’s seriously wrong with me!

I LOVE disney movies! Just this weekend I watched Finding Nemo and Dory and Pocahontus and The Little Mermaid…..

Disney movies are always a bit sad, or at least melancholy inducing. And the moms! The moms seem to get killed off frequently. There’s a twisted and dark side to nearly every Disney film I’ve ever seen.

And sometimes the dads… like in The Lion King… but yes, it does seem that there are more moms lost… or both parents, even. There is that darkness. But I think that’s a huge part of what I love about them… it makes them so emotional… which I suppose taps into my romantic side… which is pretty much all sides of me… 😀

Nothin’ wrong with havin’ a romantic side. Keeps us from becoming too jaded. 😃

My son just said “Mom, let’s watch Bridge to Taribithia.” Oh, hell no. Tears, the crying, the more crying, forget it! You’re 14, go watch 300 or something. Lol. (I love Tangled, though)

I have never seen ‘Bridge to Taribithia’… but I’m sure if you cry, I’d cry. Jeez, I cry at anything sentimental, it seems…!

I did shed some tears when Bing Bong was left under the dump 😥 I hate being emotional by a movie but it just… 😦

Tangled is my favourite, of the more modern Disney movies. I loved the graphics and I thought they really made the guy look good looking, and the story was just so fun. I’m excited for the live action beauty and the beast coming soon, it looks great. But I do have a soft spot for the cartoon one of my childhood 🙂 Great post.

Thank you. I do just adore Tangled. When I was younger… Sleeping Beauty was my favorite. 🙂

Nice. I liked sleeping beauty as well. Did you like the one with Angelina Jolie as Maleficent? I liked the take a lot 🙂

Yeah… I thought it was an interesting perspective for her backstory. My daughter liked that, too. 🙂

Don’t even get me started on that damn first montage from Up. And when Andy played with Woody and the gang for the last time and when Dory found her parents and … I’m crying like a baby just thinking of those movies…And I’m a Dad for goodness sake.
Thanks for nothing Disney.

Oh yes… Toy Story 3… that killed me… and the beginning of Up. There are so many. And it’s perfectly fine for a dad to cry! You’d probably have to be heartless not to cry!

Oh my goodness! See what I’m missing out on? I’ve only seen a handful of the more recent Disney movies like Toy Story and Tangled. I’m going to have to have a movie day with my niece!

My Disney experience is pretty limited. I think the last Disney movie I saw was The Incredibles. At least I think that’s Disney. I have seen Tangled. But I can’t remember it. Oh there’s something fundamentally wrong with me…. 😀

The Incredibles is Disney/pixar. Disney movies have always been huge in my life… since I was a kid. I don’t think there’s an animated Disney movie I haven’t seen… (theatrical releases, anyway). Oh… and I can begin reciting Tangled to you now to jog your memory… 😀

And of course it’s the voice of Zachary Levi… who I cannot listen to without hearing lines from Tangled in my head. 😀 I even took my daughter to Disney on Ice when Tangled was featured. But that was for her…not for me. 😉

Oh you’d be just great. And I always thought Disney on Ice would be terrible but it was quite good. I also got the tickets through my then-job… so they were $8 each… 🙂

Gosh… the montage from Up was just too much for my heart to handle. Also the scene from Lion King 😦 I need to go back and watch these films again. I remember enjoying them at the time but for some reason they weren’t as massive successes as say, Frozen. I also remember loving Epic. Need to go back and refresh my memory 🙂

I don’t understand the success and popularity of Frozen. It’s one of my least favorites. 🙂

I liked it because of the twist on True Love. The fact that a beleaguered Disney Princess didn’t need to be rescued by a good looking prince was so refreshing. That being said I still don’t understand the Frozen mania that has swept the world 😀
LikeLiked by 2 people
That’s part of why Tangled is so great. He wasn’t a prince… she pretty much changed him and rescued him. Rapunzel wasn’t helpless… and Belle (Beauty and the Beast) is another. I don’t get the Frozen mania… There have been strong princesses before. There shouldn’t need to be the absence of a leading man to show that. Because then that says that a woman is only strong if she doesn’t need/have a man… So I’m not even fully on board with Frozen’s message! 🙂
LikeLike
Sure, Rapunzel and Belle are strong women (Belle was one of my favorites growing up and probably still is!) but both of them had a man hanging around.
That’s actually one reason I like Frozen. Kids can finally see that it is okay for a woman to be independent and strong without throwing a man into the mix.
The very fact that Elsa didn’t have a love interest is what appealed to me. Disney kind of broke the mold in that respect with Frozen 🙂
Lol… don’t mind me. I guess the anti-romantic in me is cheering that for once finding/rescuing a love interest was not the ultimate happy ending 😉

I understand that they wanted to show a story that had no romantic love for Elsa. And I suppose having no man focuses more on the the independent and strong woman thing.
But I love when the love interest part of the story is the happy ending. I’m totally a romantic… so for me, that was hugely lacking in Frozen… so I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much as so many of the others. I felt the same way about Brave… which definitely showed a strong, independent woman… and I liked it a LOT more than Frozen… but I still missed the romance.
But that’s just sappy me. 🙂

The Incredibles is a truly great movie. I hope the second one is at least as good! I loved Monsters, Inc., but I was disappointed with Monsters University… I so wanted to love it, but it wasn’t anywhere near as great as the first.
