p is for pedestal.

In a world of my own invention
You towered above me
And I should have left you there.

Don’t put anyone on a pedestal
Everyone always tells me
I boldly vehemently disagree
In the clouds you were my dream
Whatever I wanted you to be
A convergence of hearts
Of words of imagination
Frozen in idealistic anticipation

Until you crashed through
And fell to me at the foot
Of that majestic pillar
Gave me what I thought I wanted
But reality destroyed fantasy
I lost everything I adored
Because the distance between us
Was the home of our magic

Hope and yearning disintegrated
Because off that giant rock
The dream was no more.

[This is an unintentional companion to my poem imperfection. Sort of the flip side… maybe… kind of. And perhaps p is also for pain.]
