I believe in magic
And in kindred souls
A person for every person
We all get one
If I am uncertain
I have found my person
Then I have not
Because when I do
Fires will blaze
Warming me
From deep inside
Thoughts will coincide
As if he reads my mind
My body will tremble
Just because he is near
All things will balance
In a harmonious union
And I will not question
A single thing
Because I will know
I have found the one
I believe in torment
In a connection fated
A person for every person
But I found mine too late
Aw, so hopeful, till the last line.

Once you get past the whole arsonist part, this is beautiful. I like to think everyone has the special someone where souls connect. Are they mean to find one another? Perhaps like you say, sometimes too late. Great poem.

Those are internal fires… hmm… I didn’t think that was cryptic at all. Perhaps I quit editing too soon… Thanks for reading.

Feeling a bit silly when I read it. Can I blame it on the wine?
LikeLiked by 1 person
I suppose that’s as good a reason as any… but I have concerns if you were drinking wine before 9am…

LOL Now I am getting my comments mixed up. I dont really know? I am drinking wine right now. Feeling good too.

That makes one of us. 😛 Maybe I’m the one who should be drinking.

That is a heart twisting feeling, finding “the one” too late. Although, I came across an article about the fallacy of “soul mates” and I promised it to Drew too. And then of course I promptly forgot about it! I hope this is not autobiographical! 😩

The romantic in me likes to believe in soul mates…but I’ve never been so sure they really exist. As far as whether this is autobiographical…. I will leave that a mystery….

Oh boy! We need The Doctor and his TARDIS!

That would be awesome. But if I get my choice of doctor, Tardis may not be required…. I’ll just take him. 😀

Ah indeed. The one who touches a part inside of us that no other has ever touched…a part that will always be theirs regardless of whether you are together. Very powerful.

I saw a quote once that really resonated because of this very subject. It said “The difference between the love of your life and your soul mate is that one you choose, the other you don’t.”

Is there only one true soul mate? Couldn’t there be dozens of combinations that would make us happy? And if we did find that soul mate, wouldn’t we still wonder what if?
LikeLiked by 1 person
I agree with all of what you said. Honestly, I’m not sure we only get one (but that worked for this poem)… in fact, I’m not sure we get any at all because sometimes I’m not sure “soul mate” is a real thing. Or maybe my definition of it is what’s not right. I definitely believe we can be happy with all sorts of people… but I don’t know that every one of them would be considered a soul mate. I also think it’s human nature to always wonder what if… because even if one thinks they are with their soul mate, it’s not like there’s a test to prove it… (Wow, that test would change the world, wouldn’t it?)
LikeLiked by 1 person
We should invent that test! What do you think, yes or no, multiple choice, essay or a mixture of all three? 😃
LikeLiked by 1 person
Interesting… because I was thinking blood test. Apparently in my head, this is at least partially physiologic. But a test with all the parts you mention would be the perfect companion. A section for yes/no, one for multiple choice, one for essay. Oh, and maybe even one that has a scale from 1-5 to determine how strongly one agrees with or does not agree with a statement.

Perfect! The blood test is a great idea too. There is compatibility there too. 😃

I’m not sure I could handle either of those…too dopey and too hairy. Hahaha! How about another vampire and a wizard? 😀

I am certainly partial to vampires, but wizards are… you know, magic. I think there will be some rotating or general sharing. 🙂

There’s always hope for connecting with the kindred spirit, no matter where you find yourself. This was moving and I liked it very much.

Thanks Rob… I agree because I’ve had friends I’ve felt were “soul mates” (if that’s a real thing…) with or without the romantic or sexual parts of it…

They’re precious when you find them – so never let go!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Unfortunately, some of them have let me go… so maybe this whole feeling can also be one-sided… which goes against the very definition (whatever that truly is)…
LikeLiked by 1 person
Then, they couldn’t have been soul mates. Then again, sometimes those soulmates come in go in our lives, never losing love that entire time.

Maybe they are soul mates from afar… because one of the separation factors is often geography…
