Today is the last day of school. The kids have a [pointless] half-day. I will be picking them up in a little over an hour. And then I will be with them near-constantly for the next ten weeks. My father-in-law will take them for a few hours every Monday. And on the weekends when John is home, I may have to run away for a few hours. [Don’t judge me. I adore those kids… but I’m going to need a break!]
I’ve got to come up with cheap (free) activities to keep the kids entertained. It’s challenging because the girl wants to go-go-go all the time… be outside, go places, see things, do things. And the boy would be perfectly content with a screen of any kind in front of his face the whole summer, with breaks to build LEGO stuff and argue with the girl.
So… I will be busy. I’ll probably have less time to be here. And you know… I hope that happens. Oh, I adore you all and you know it. But I think it will be good for me. I have trouble unplugging. With the kids and the summer… well, I’ll be forced. Maybe you’ll even have time to miss me. [Or I will succumb to my junkie tendencies and my subtle absence won’t be visible to the naked eye.]
[And when the summer is over, I have to work my ass off to find a job. But I don’t want to discuss that right now because the thought of it makes me a bit sick to my stomach.]
This maybe the last summer I’ll have home with the kids, not working. Like… ever. That’s a depressing thought. I should have been a teacher. Except for the getting up super-early and the having to be with a ton of kids all day.
I’m sure I’ll have some days of utter frustration when the kids will fight and I will try desperately to grab my laptop and hide, but that may not work out.
So instead, I’ll just watch this guy get ready for our date. [I don’t know why he’s getting dressed… I’m just going to rip it all off him later… or sooner…]
Yup, summertime is here and the kiddies are all around. It’s going to be even more difficult for me to get that all over tan this summer.

Me, too. But I will probably have a few hours on Mondays… I hope they’re hot.

A comprehensive breakfast perhaps?

Not sure if gramps is taking the morning or afternoon. I was hoping for both, but my mother-in-law is a bitch. 😀 So… possibly a late breakfast. Damn, I’ll be hungry by then.

Brunch?

I love brunch. More possibilities, I think… even though breakfast is my favorite meal. Sometimes I like a bagel… or french toast with yummy syrup… and everyone loves bacon… and sausage…

Bacon and sausage make everything taste better. 😀

Ha, nice ending picture. I always think swimming lessons are good and there not expensive. I only got as high as level 5 or 6 so I can swim but not well. I think its an important skill. VBS (Vacation Bible School) is always a great free thing to sign your kids up for. They go a week, and the kids get to do crafts, play games, sing etc. So check around at some local churches in your community. I know certain parks have these sheds and they do daily activities with kids at the parks. Best of luck and have fun 🙂

Thanks! I can swim but the kids can’t really. They should know by now! I feel like a bad mom when it comes to that!

Lol. No worries. My one brother, was always afraid of water, I don’t think he swims at all.

Oh, I forgot to mention… my husband can’t swim!

Woo! 🎶School’s out for summer!🎶 😈 in my Alice Cooper voice… So no community pool nearby? That’s always fun. You could get a tan and/or teach the kids to swim! And the art store… Channel that creativity. 😃

I don’t think I could bring myself to go to a community pool. I think I have some germ-phobia. But I do feel like a failure as a parent because they can’t really swim yet. My dad taught me when I was, like, 4! But… we had a pool. And Mom still has it, but we can’t go *all* the time… she’s an hour away. Might take the kids for an overnight sometime, though. Leave John behind working. Did that sound mean? Plus… get this… I need a new swimsuit because mine is *too big*! I can wear it… it’s okay… but I need the next size down. Yay me. Anxiety… the diet of champions.
Also, I’m going to make everyone puke because I think I have to make another kid post… 😀

That’s awesome! Not the anxiety part. 😬 But yes take them swimming! Just dip them in Purell when they’re done! 😂

My husband, in his infinite desire to make my life a pain in the ass, just gave them somewhat high powered water guns. I asked him if he got me one… and he said no… so I’ve decided that when I go out to play with the kids, I will just use the hose. LOL

WOW! Thanks for the nice reminder of Alex – since Hawaii five-0 went on hiatus for the summer I have been missing his hottness lol
As for free activities: I shall offer my VERY best teacher advice: PINTEREST! (yes I am just a little bit addicted) It has LOTS of ideas 🙂 Sunnny day, rainy day, things for girls, things for boys, things for them both to do together (like maybe a “lazer” course in your hall way made with tape and string?)

Oh my God… when I first read your comment I thought… you were suggesting that I let them use Pinterest… hahahaha! 😀 You’re right, though… many ideas there!

My two finish school in under two days as well, but I’ll just let them loose (well, my daughter at least!) I remember it was always a challenge keeping them entertained when they were younger. Hope it all goes well, have fun. Love the end to your post!!! 🙂

Oh, this is so good! If only we lived closer we could hang out all summer… Pinterest is a good source of ideas but I don’t always have the time or patience to wade through it…

Oh, we would have so much fun! I have a problem with Pinterest sometimes… I go to look for something new to make for dinner and 3 hours later, I’ve only pinned about 30 more dessert recipes and still have no idea what’s for dinner. 😀

You know, I never thought about using it for ideas for dinner! I hate to cook. But I’ve got to do it more cause I kind of hate take out, too…

I’ve found some really great recipes there. For dinners and desserts. I have 3 separate boards for the ones I save… healthy, not so healthy, and desserts. I don’t mind cooking but I hate trying to figure out what to make…

Maybe you should look me up. You can see my pins. Also, I was thinking, even though it has nothing to do with my blog whatsoever, that I might slap a page on my blog with links to some of my favorite recipes… Haven’t decided, but I’ve found lots of good ones. (Oh and I mostly go for those that take about 30 minutes or less…) 🙂
