I want to live in a world where Harold’s purple crayon is my own, cheesecake is an acceptable breakfast choice, and no one thinks I’m crazy for falling in love with fictional characters.
I’m a writer and an artist, or I like to think I am, and I have never been able to abandon my nostalgic love of paper. Letters and cards you can hold in your hands and hang on the fridge, old notes and drawings from years ago and from yesterday, well-worn notebooks and journals filled with my own stories and thoughts and dreams, and books—old books, new books, love stories, cookbooks, children’s books, and that big fat dictionary I’ve had since junior high sitting on the shelf beside my ultra-nerdy mathlete trophy. I love you, paper. Sorry, Earth.
Despite the lack of paper involved, this blog is long overdue. I have written enough fiction for at least five novels, but my shyness and lack of confidence have kept me from following that dream. As I’ve matured, so has my work [in every way]. Of course, my inability and unwillingness to truly end my stories also poses a problem. I love my imaginary worlds and my beautiful characters. Why would I ever want my stories to end?
When I’m not writing or creating lovely things, you can find me reading, daydreaming, over-thinking everything, having a good cry, reining in my desire to bake daily because I will eat it all, calming high anxiety without giving up my coffee habit, reminiscing about that ridiculous night I was voted prom queen, or trying to figure out what the hell my family wants for dinner.
Should you stick around [please do], you can look forward to reading what I think [and telling me what you think] about everything – love, music, sex, dreams, angst, memories, life – peppered with my own special touches of sarcasm, darkness, and foul language. And now that I’ve finally accepted that my writing doesn’t totally suck, you’ll get some fiction and poetry. Written by me. Especially for you. Because I’m here for your enjoyment. Okay, that’s a lie. I’m here for my enjoyment. But I want you to enjoy me, too.
I hope you’ll poke around, read old posts and new ones, check out the fiction and the poetry. And while you’re on the ride through Sandra’s mind [please keep hands and feet inside the car at all times], I hope you’ll follow and share and comment and put up posters of my thoughts for the world to see. I’m not opposed to being publicized on the side of a bus.
And by the way, I should mention that some posts are [clearly] intended for 18+ readers.

This is so incredible! I adore this so much and I adore you! We literally have so much in common, I love this. I too of course am a mother and a wife and I think it is safe to say we both love to read and write! However we have so much else in common. I love baking, and cooking and I saw that you love also playing around with recipes. I too, love arts and crafts and actually designed my own wedding invitations! And when my baby girl finally hurrys up on and out of my tummy! I can’t wait to watch tangled and Disney movies with her just like you do with your daughter. Great post (:

My baby is due in March! So I still have a while to go yet! I truly cannot wait though. Being pregnant is literally the best feeling in the world to me. How many children do you have if you don’t mind me asking? (:

I have two… my son is 10 (will be 11 in January) and my daughter is 7 (will be 8 very soon – November). I also loved being pregnant, but at the end of my second, I was in rough shape… everything hurt! As soon as she was on the outside, though, I was all better – instantly! It was magic! Clearly, she did not want to make things easy for me. She still doesn’t! Ha!! Funny because my son was no problem before or after his birth. Total opposites in many ways.

Maybe this is what it will be like for me! I have 2 sons, my first born is 4 years old and my baby is 11 months old! I have heard horror stories about having boys but mine have literally been angels. Don’t get me wrong they keep me up! Especially my 4 year old but a part from that they have been a blessing. Maybe what it was like for you will be for me! In terms of your son being no problem but your daughter being completely different! Is it much different having a baby girl? I am really looking forward to finally having a girl but I do wonder how different she will be from my boys! P.s. I love talking to fellow moms (:

My son is so easy. He has always slept well (since he was a baby!) and he does great in school. My daughter does great in school, too, but for some reason, as a baby, she struggled to sleep unless my husband held her! She was not the easy baby my son was… and even now, she has a much louder, makes-her-presence-known kind of disposition. She also does great in school which makes me happy. Their teachers always love them. I had actually heard worse horror stories about girls, and I do think boys are easier, but my daughter is a sweet, adorable kid. And I really wanted a girl. It was funny when I asked my mom about any gender differences because she had no idea — she had 4 daughters, no boys! (She also had 4 normal deliveries — I had 2 c-sections.)

I feel like I’m eavesdropping on a private conversation but since it was in 2015, I guess it’s ok. I want to interject my experience with boys vs girls. I have a 27 year old daughter and 20 year old boy boy girl triplets. I can say to anyone who is amazed that we have parented triplets, “Sometimes one can be as challenging as a litter.” Our oldest daughter had colic forever and cried through much of her young life wanting to be perfect at everything she tried. My other daughter is very sensitive and moody, actually a little scary sometimes. Not really but I do find myself trying not to ruffle her feathers too much and steer clear of certain topics. My boys, are sooooo much easier. I know this is not universal but I’d say, if they get mad or upset, they fight or fuss it out, get over it quickly and move on. No lingering grudges, hurt feelings, anger, or gossip about anything. As the kids have become young adults, I’d like to say they’re all equal in difficulty but that would be a lie. The boys still roll with the punches and the girls still, how do I say this? Whine? Worry, and take things personally sometimes. I wouldn’t trade any of the four. They’re all fabulous people but I’d have to say for me, boys were easier. That’s just my two cents. I hope they never see this. haha

My kids are 12 (boy) and 9 (girl) now and I still say my son is easier! My daughter is very dramatic! I fear for myself during her teenage years!

I am the model blogger. Ha! That is totally untrue. It took me a long time to be satisfied with this “about” page. I still feel like parts of it require further explanation… but I couldn’t plop my entire autobiography here.
