when. #poetry

When I don’t know what to say
I hope you remember
those times when I did
When I had all the right words
and I could make you smile
even when you cried
When nothing more than a hug
took all the pain away
When nothing would ever
be wrong again
simply because
of love

Today, this poem is for my daughter… but on another day, it might be for someone else. I was torn as to whether or not I should include the photo above because I prefer to allow the reader his/her own interpretation… not mine… not necessarily mother and daughter.

About what sandra thinks

Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.

  8. It’s so good. Save these things for when your little girl grows up, I know she will love it. I have a recipe for banana bread that my dad wrote out and I keep it because it’s in his handwriting!

  11. Could you maybe not reblog my entire blog on yours? I worked hard on my original content and would rather it not fill someone else’s blog. Thank you for your kindness.
