Yes, I keep a stock image handy for occasions such as this…
Dear Thieving Wanker,
Seriously… what the fuck?
If you want to share a post of mine, the proper and polite thing to do is to ask if I mind if you reblog it. But even if you don’t ask first, at least use Reblog… or Press This.
DO NOT—under any circumstances—copy and paste my words and pass them off as your own.
What you stole from me wasn’t even a poem or anything like that where you wanted to pass off my creativity and talent as your own. It was a personal post! One where I was saying a heartfelt thank you to my friends… It doesn’t even make sense for you to take that as your own.
The “Thank you [list of specific names]” line was removed. The first sentence, “I have been overwhelmed by love, kindness and support over the last few days,” had the word days changed to months. Other than that, the post was identical to mine. WTF?
When things like this happen (and this isn’t the only time it’s happened to me), I lose a little more faith in humanity… and I question whether I should continue posting my personal feelings. Or anything else at all.
Thankfully, when I asked, you removed the post. But this really pissed me off. Hell, you even got a comment on the post and replied to it as though the words, thoughts, and feelings were your own! How can you steal someone’s emotions? Someone’s honest feelings? Maybe the better question is, why would you want to steal my emotions? They are generally unpleasant.
Of course, before you removed the post, I was so angry that not only did I comment asking that the post be taken down, but I also sent an email… and I notified WP. I guess I could have waited to see if the post was removed first. But I was really mad.
Kindly do not do it again. And do not do it to anyone else.
Have a nice day.
~sandra
p.s. – Is this ↓ big enough?

What the heck is wrong with people?!
At least it was taken down.

I’ve had things stolen before… and it sucks. But this time… personal stuff? It’s ridiculous!

Wholly crap, I can’t believe that happened. I’m so happy you reported it, and that your post was removed. People should be more respectful.

I can’t figure out what the point is. How can someone feel good about doing that? Sometimes people really suck!

Yes, some people have no boundaries at all, unfortunately. 😦

Totally disrespectful. I left him a little comment…and I hope that he sees this post so that he thinks twice. Because if he did that to me…well, you kbow what I would do.

I was especially shocked at which post it was… how could someone even pretend they have the same exact situations, emotions, feelings as someone else?? Crazy!

I love the first line haha, sorry it happens to you, but it seems you show them not to f**k with you so keep it up. Very nice posts.

I do try to have a sense of humor about things. I’m not even sure the guy who did this will see this post!

For real?!? That’s not just rotten, it’s lame because did this person really think no one would notice?

It’s kind of an odd coincidence that I even discovered it! But I’m glad I did. But damn… it was a post thanking my friends for something specific. How can that even apply to someone else???

I am not a huge fan of reblogging because it seems to be a lazy way to add content to ones blog.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I feel the same way. I’m not generally a fan It’s cool if someone who has plenty of their own content sees something amazing that they want to share. Those reblogs make sense. But there are bloggers out there who *only* post reblogs. What’s the point?

You should check out Tumblr its surprising any original content is there to reblog.

That’s a little bizarre. Did you get an answer to “Why?”? 😒

No… he didn’t directly respond to me… but he did take the post down. It is really weird…

That is bizarre! There is stealing, I just recently brought to the attention of a very popular blogger that she had taken credit for a quote of Winston Churchill’s. She says, O, sorry, and took it down.

I’ve had things stolen before but never something like this. Why would someone want to take my personal issues as their own? It’s really weird!

Yep, that happened to me about a year ago. Fuckers. Thankfully I was alerted to it, however since then I still wonder how much of the crap I write is out there with some other bastards name at the top of it. Fuckers.

I wonder the same thing. I doubt I catch them all. Should I be googling quotes from all my posts on a regular basis?? That’s nuts!

I did that not long after I discovered that someone had ripped off my work. What I found spun me out a little bit, from the perspective of how easy it was to access anything I had produced/published, years worth, that had at one time or another featured on different social media sites, or in magazines, newspapers etc. And more importantly, how easy it was to cut and paste them to anything I chose. As a result, I don’t put anything onto my blog that I can’t afford to lose, which is generally quite a bit. Anyway, that’s my two cents, and I hope it has all been sorted without an issue. Stay groovy, N.

It is scary how easy it is for people to steal. I guess I can always prove it’s mine due to timestamps… That’s a good thing. Of course if I don’t know something of mine is out there with someone else’s name on it, that does me no good!

Yes, it is an absolute sod of a thing. Do you have a copyright blurb at the bottom of each of your posts, as well as in the ‘about’ section of your blog? I had to start doing that. It’s a pain in the tail end, but serves its purpose. Stay groovy groover. N.

Yes… I do the copyright thing. I think those who steal don’t care. Which is pathetic!

thats fucking awful sandra! Im sorry that someone did this to you! stinks! glad you spoke up about it. xo

I really don’t understand why someone would do it! I wouldn’t want to get attention or a response to something that wasn’t mine in the first place!

No neither would I, but some people have no respect for others and no regard for others words
LikeLiked by 1 person
Perhaps you might choose to treat it us something of a compliment. Your words are admired – they have value. They are worth stealing. Nobody seems interested in stealing any of my stuff, sadly.
LikeLiked by 1 person
You are right, of course. If my writing was terrible, I imagine no one would bother taking it. And you have plenty of steal-worthy words. Maybe you just have more honest readers?

Scoundrel! Why would he do that on such a personal post? Perhaps he sees that your blog has a lot of followers and he’s trying to capture that? What escapes this person is that the post was relevant because it was about YOU.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Some people just want to take from others, I guess. I’m surprised every day that I have as many followers as I do since I’m generally a mess. But I got here by being myself. I don’t think being me will work for anyone else…

Crazy. And it’s not even flattering, it’s just wrong for someone to do that without crediting you. That one is kind of hard to understand. And kind of pathetic…

I don’t get it! I’d still be angry no matter what post it was but this one makes no sense! Someone is trying to appear to be have the same emotions as I have? So weird.

ouch, that would imply the thief is devoid of emotion to do something so calculated and wrong … keep posting Sandra, don’t let them get to you … thank heavens you spotted it!

lol that’s good and maybe ban that person from your site … altho I guess they could still do it if they are that stupid!

Unfortunately, you can’t really ban someone. I could remove him as a follower but he wasn’t even on the list!

there is a way to blacklist comments in the discussion section under WP Admin, but that wont stop them from coping …

I think this happened to me earlier. I blog I follow “linked” a post of mine to his own site—and only part of the first paragraph ended up going through—but they failed to identify either my site or myself as the author of the piece. I wrote a comment asking them to identify me but it went into moderation queue. So far it has not been approved or denied

I really hate that. If someone reblogs, there is a link back to your original post. If it’s not linked… that’s just wrong!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Good news is that the person did end up reblogging it, so it ended on a good note. But I know not everybody will be as lucky

Well done you, for speaking out. I haven’t had anyone steal my work (that I know of), but I am aware of bloggers who are very clearly copying and pasting their posts from other sources. They also seem to have an inordinately large number of followers who “like” these bullsh*t posts. Plagiarism + fake followers. Shameless.

I don’t understand why people do it. What do they gain from it?? It doesn’t make sense to me!

It’s the equivalent of doping in sports. They have no talent, so they cheat.
