six inches… then hot.

doodleHahaha… I bet I got you with that title.

I’m sorry. That was mean. This is really just an aimless post. I’m trying to entertain myself, I guess. It’s been a slow day in my world. Kids are on school break but they have no use for me… unless they need my driving services. I’m their no-cost Uber.

Anyway… let’s talk about the weather for a moment.

Less than 72 hours ago, we had six inches of snow. Today…

It’s February. That’s only about 30°F above normal. No big deal.

This is the most boring post of all time. I’m just frustrated with my inability to write the things I’m trying to write. I have a list of ideas but none of them are coming together. I’ve been working on one of them for three weeks. I can’t get it right. Trash.

I must be weird because things that seem to be so popular never seem that great to me. It’s not that I think they’re bad in all cases… but I don’t get the hype.

Black Panther was good. I enjoyed it. But it wasn’t the most amazing movie Marvel has ever made as many were saying. I can think of quite a few Marvel movies I’ve loved more… Thor: Ragnarok (and the other Thor movies, too, but especially this one), Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Iron Man (all of them). But BP was better than any Captain America or Spiderman movie (for the record, Andrew Garfield was my favorite Spiderman… I don’t like this kid they have now). I think I just don’t care about those two so the thrill of their movies is lost on me.

And yes, I realize I’m a superhero nerd. Shut up. I didn’t start it. There’s a dude living here… things get in my face. Wow. That sounds really really wrong. But you know what I mean. Right?

Stranger Things is interesting and I’ve enjoyed watching it. But from the insane amount of praise it’s gotten, I expected a lot more. I’m interested to see what happens next but I’m not enthralled. If you really want to binge watch (god, I hate that expression… I think I hate all ‘hip’ expressions… they make me cringe) something great, try Daredevil or Jessica Jones or Luke Cage. Or go back and watch every season of Hawaii Five-0 because Alex O’Loughlin is beautiful. (Sorry, I’m sure he’s not everyone’s type…)

And… I’m not even going to talk about reality shows. I’m embarrassed to be an American for a few reasons at this point in history… but this is definitely one of them. Ugh. I know people enjoy these shows… otherwise, I’m sure they’d stop making them (I wish). But I do not get it. At all. When I die… and I go to hell… I am going to be forced to eat cauliflower, listen to country music, and watch reality tv. That is my own personal hell.

Oh… and there’s another idea for a post. What things will be like for me when I arrive in hell. Perfect. I’m going to make a note of it.

About what sandra thinks

Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.

  2. Hahaha! I know I said to just write, and this was perfect! You crack me up. I think that post about we should expect when we arrive in hell would be great! Hmmm. I wonder I can expect? 🤔

… it’s 42 C here today, a normal summers day. Possibly hot enough to melt cheese onto that cauliflower …

You didn’t fool me. 12 inches would have been meaner! Loved season 1 of Stranger Things, not so much on S2. Luke Cage and Daredevil I did binge and enjoyed. And by defauly, you ARE a superhero nerd…haha!

  5. And the day that you do stand at heavens gate and He insists you come inside to watch all your favorites…what then? I think hell is going to be very disappointed kind lady 😀 ❤

    Sandra,

Yeah, thanks for that hook of a title!
As for Stranger Things, I bagged it after a few episodes of Season 2 for Hemlock Grove, which I dig. I DID go back and finish Stranger Things though, and I feel the same way as you do on this. Good, but I was expected better than good. The soundtrack is great though.
Push through the wall that is giving you nada as far as your writing is concerned. Because this wasn’t a ‘boring’ post, and you wrote it and you were entertaining and clever and cheeky as per usual. So you’re working it. Just keep pushing.

    Peace and donuts

My version of hell includes kale, Fox News and anything involving Ryan Seacrest. I think this was a fun post. You’re keeping it real, Sandra. I enjoyed Stranger Things but agree that the first season was better than the second. However, I’m really glad someone gave Winona Rider a job! Jessica Jones was awesome. I didn’t know about Luke Cage – how did that happen? Keep writing girlfriend, you’ll get past this and onto something new. Maybe your own superhero story?

    • Yes… kale is awful. And everything else you mentioned. Though I don’t really have feelings either way about Seacrest.

I’m just frustrated when I have ideas but can’t seem to write them as more than just little notes to myself.

Luke Cage was great. All of those have been really good but I kind of lost interest in Iron Fist. I watched a few episodes but then stopped. The Defenders has them all and it’s really good — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist… and the supporting characters, too. Then there’s The Punisher… I haven’t watched that yet. Clearly, I spend too much time watching tv… and learning about the Marvel universe. 😀

I don’t know that I can truly write anything other than romance… like, I’m kind of simple. I’m not sure how I’d add in a superhero or anything else like that.

I even have notes for a new fiction story. I just can’t seem to write any of it.

hehe, I love using suggestive titles on my blog. But people who read my blog regularly should know that there will never be anything even remotely naughty written underneath. But seriously that weather app picture is the cutest little thing!!! OMG

Life doesn’t always have to be exciting. I have to agree, beyond Wonder Woman, I enjoy Marvel comic superhero’s better. Thor is a good one and I like he Avengers movies, Dr Strange, Ironman, and captain America 🙂 I did enjoy stranger things once I got into it, actually the second season was much more exciting than the first. I like ‘Suits’ if you haven’t watched it, definantly a worth while show to see with 6 seasons. I’m also into the second season of the ‘Crown’ about the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Also, love Riverdale and Scandal if you haven’t seen the past episodes of those shows. They have new ones on Netflix, the day after they or on TV.

    Cheers.

    • Yeah, I already watch Riverdale. Lost interest in Scandal after season 1. Captain America just bores me for some reason…

Scandal just starts getting good at season 2. I lost interest in Season 1 as well, but started watching when Season 2 began, I’ve been hooked since. How to Get Away with Murder is not bad, but you kind of have to see every episode or you get lost. Lol. I also enjoyed Downtown Abbey once I got into it. Interesting and neat fashion and character development. I also like the Mindy Project and hear good things about ‘This is Us’ but I got bored in the first show, so I think I should just skip ahead to the second. Anyways good luck girl 👍

I couldn’t get myself into the Stranger Things show at all! I’m never really into the hyped shows either. I have been wanting to watch Jessica Jones though just wasn’t sure if it’d be worth my time but I’ll def check it out now. 😄 Thanks for the recommendation!
& a post about what it would be like when you arrive in Hell would be too funny. 😂
