I know… google it. I did… but I didn’t go past the results page. I’ve looked up random symptoms before and, well, do you have any idea how many times I have had a fatal disease? According to my ‘research‘, about a thousand. Yet here I am… alive and mostly well. (Let’s not speak of my psychological shortcomings.)
I have had a headache for days. I think it’s four now. Last night, I went to sleep early. Well… kind of early for me. I was really hoping I’d wake up headache-free this morning. But no. Headache still there… persistent little fucker.
New and improved! Now with nausea and dizziness! Get yours today! Only $49.95! (Plus $5000.00 shipping and handling)
It’s not the worst headache I’ve ever had. I’m functioning normally-ish. The pain isn’t severe. I am a bit sensitive to light, but not unbearably so. But this morning, as I was emptying the dishwasher, I really thought I was going to be sick… and then I started randomly sweating.
Now, if I’m going to sweat, I want it to be from something good… like a run on the beach when it’s 85° or wild crazy hot sex.
And how have I attempted to remedy this situation?
Wild crazy hot sex. (I wish this one were true… but rest assured, the others are…)
I got a little more sleep. Kind of.
Self-pleasure. Shut up! That is a known thing. The big O can get rid of the big H. I read it on the internet… so it must be true.
This morning, I finally caved and took some ibuprofen. That was five hours ago… no change. I swear Advil is just a placebo.
I lulled myself back to sleep after taking the kids to school. But I only slept for about an hour.
By this time, it was late morning, and I thought maybe I needed to eat something as I had not eaten since about 6:30 last night. I suppose more than 16 hours with no food could be an issue. I tried to make myself something but I was feeling too sick to do much of anything. So I had a protein granola bar and some milk. (Milk soothes me sometimes… I think it might be a nostalgic thing.)
I made coffee. (Not that I wouldn’t have done this anyway…) Caffeine is one of the top remedies for headaches. Of course, I will probably need more than usual for the proper caffeine dosage. Maybe I should go out and get a big one from Dunkin’ with a turbo shot.
As I mentioned, it’s not severe pain. If it was, I’m sure I wouldn’t have a sense of humor about it. (Actually, that’s not true. I always have a sense of humor about everything… even inappropriately… at inappropriate times.) Instead, I’d either be using lots of ‘bad‘ (I don’t consider them ‘bad’) words or I wouldn’t be here at all… But since I am a giver, I thought I’d share my pain with you, my friends. You’re welcome.
I don’t know if this is a migraine. I’ve never been diagnosed with migraines. But I’ve never called a doctor for a headache before either.
Of course, it doesn’t even matter if this is a migraine. It’s not so bad that I’m going to call a professional (not a medical professional, anyway). And I’m not going to treat it any differently even if it has a name. But I guess I could just give it a name myself. How about Roland? Roland the Headache. (Coming soon to a theater near you! Tickets only $5000!)
So… I guess this post is more of an entertaining (for whom? me or you?) stream of consciousness thing than anything else. Because I know you love to read my thoughts. You’re welcome… again.

Hormone headache. Check it. I’m so close to menopause I can see it (‘course, I’ve been this close for a few years now), and about once a month I get a hammering, OMG give me a drill so I can release the pressure, nothing–NOTHING–in the pain killer department-works headache. Right behind my right eye. Just there. Eye, temple, top of my nose, forehead. Used to last only one day. Now anywhere from 2 to 3 days. And I never had those before about six or seven years ago. Thought it was a sinus headache, even had my deviated septum fixed, but didn’t help. My doctor suggested hormone headache because, you know, approx. once a month and NOTHING helps with the pain. Often bad enough I can’t eat and hardly sleep. So, maybe. As for what helps? Nuthin’. Closing my eyes, darkened room, quiet. My doc said if it’s so bad I can’t stand it, she’s had luck with other patients w/ botox–cause of pain is overstimulated nerves (courtesy of wacky hormone levels in perimenopause), and botox = paralyzed nerves. Anywho, probably TMI, but I feel for ya.

That would make me feel old! 😄 I don’t know… One never had one last like this before… but the pain is not that bad. It’s more of a dull ache. And the dizziness and nausea were way better after I ate… so there’s that. It’s probably a tension headache… with the snowstorm last week, the loss have been with me 24/7 since last Wed afternoon… not that I would ever blame them… 😏

Hahaha! You beat me to it. I was gonna suggest food, orgasm, and caffeine…not necessarily in that order. Generally, one or any combo of the three will do the trick. Doesn’t sound like a migraine, just a nuisance. 😃

I agree with Julie Holmes. I use to get those headaches that would last for multiple days in a row. And, all the advice she just gave you works! What you can also do too, is eat a little bit of dark chocolate… I know that sounds strange, but my mother actually told me to do that, and it actually helped me.
You may also, want to google barometric pressure… This could have an adverse effect pressure on the brain. In that case, a decongestion could assist with the pressure.
I do wish you the best and hope you feel better really soon. 🙂

Oooo, never considered dark chocolate. I’m going to have to try that one 🙂

Thanks.. and glad I gave you a laugh! I think it has something to do with my eating or lack thereof because food seems to have helped the most. And you don’t have to tell me twice to eat dark chocolate… 🙂 In fact, there was some in the bar I ate… so maybe that helped, too!

My mother is always right. At least that’s what I tell her to humor her. LOL!
I learned that the barometric pressure was affecting me with my headaches, plus the feeling of high anxiety, which is what I’m going through this very moment. OYE! I hate this crap. 😦

Julie has a very good point. Peri menopausal headaches. Just because you think NO WAY, doesn’t mean it isn’t. Hormonal probs can be at any time, and peri menopause can be from age 35,or even sooner. There are solutions but there are also lots of quacks who will take your money for useless potions. I know a good lady who can help if you think you need it! (my niece)

All symptoms have improved since I ate. I think I should not go for over 16 hours without food… Also, this isn’t a regular thing so not sure about the hormone thing. And yes, upsets me because it makes me feel old!

You don’t have to be old to have hormonal problems – think teens!

If it’s on the internet, the remedy must be true. 😉

What everyone else said, plus water. We tend to drink less in the colder weather and we can get dehydrated. And water will flush toxins which can contribute to a headache!

You’re right… I drink less water at this time of year… because I always have coffee in my hand instead. Thank you for that… I hadn’t thought of it but it makes sense! 🙂

I live by Excedrin migraine. Knocks mine out pretty quick. Also if you google here is a little trick to filter results… migraine site:edu for example will bring back sites from educational organizations.

Ooh…that is a good tip! I hate when google searches and some sites make me think I’m dying! And yes… I should probably have some of that Excedrin migraine on hand.

I hope you are feeling better Sandra! 😦 that sucks to have a lasting headache. I hope it’s nothing serious. Do you think maybe the weather can be causing it? I get headaches with big shifts in weather

It could be the weather… I’m not sure. We did get up to a toasty 32(F) today… that was quite a change!

Maybe you just try and drink lots of water..
Its horrible to have head aches that seem to last forever.. and don’t listen to Google.. maybe if it still persists you should visit a doctor..
Take care ❤
