back to you. part 16. [previous: part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4 | part 5 | part 6 | part 7 | part 8 | part 9 | part 10 | part 11 | part 12 | part 13 | part 14 | part 15]
Sorry… it’s a bit short… but it was a natural place to say, ‘cut!’ Please don’t hate me!
Dani didn’t punch Adam. Or push him away. But she mumbled into his kiss.
“I never thought you’d forgive me…”
“Dani… I never thought you’d forgive me.”
She had to take her mouth from his. “It wasn’t your fault.” When she saw that he was about to speak, she rested a finger across his lips. “It was me. It is me.” Again, her tears fell. “I can’t believe I let it get here. Finn… and this whole day. I buried everything. I think I just wanted it to be easy.” She sighed softly. “But I never got over you.”
He wiped her tears. “And Finn?”
Her eyes fell from his. “He was there for me. I was weak… broken… and he helped me… he took care of me. I loved him for that. But I never fell in love. Because I was still in love with you.”
He had to catch his breath when he heard those words. “Dani, you are not weak. You left. You’re here. You couldn’t marry him. No matter how beautiful you look in this dress.”
“Adam…” She looked at him again and smiled when she saw his smile.
“You do look beautiful.”
“I ruined my hair.”
“You’re perfect.” His fingers tangled in her hair, gently twisting it around his fingers for a moment before he pulled her into his arms. She closed her eyes and sighed when he held her. “Dani… I’ve been imagining this moment for a long time.”
She smiled and opened her eyes. She, too, had imagined it hundreds of times. But before she spoke, she saw something over Adam’s shoulder. Or she didn’t see something…
“Adam?” She pulled away. “Was there a limo parked over there when you got here?”
“Yes… why?”
“It’s gone. I never told the driver to leave…”
“Does it matter?”
“No… but… if he’s been in contact with Finn, Finn knows where we are.”
“What do you want to do? Should we leave?”
Dani took a deep breath and looked over Adam’s shoulder again. And then she saw a car whip into the sand where the limo had been parked.
Dani was silent. Adam asked her again. “Dani? Should we go?”
“It’s too late.”

I like how you tied Finn and the limo together, to find them. Good plan. Now, somebody gonna end up in the lake? Finn’s already had a bad day, might as well be him. 😃

It took me a LONG time to figure out/decide what was going to happen with the water… I think I know now. Started writing the next part a few days ago… 🙂 It’s nice to be a little ahead…

Good for you! I’ve forgotten what it feels like to be ahead of anything. 😃

Bet it feels nice. Maybe someday I’ll actually be ahead….of something. I have my doubts though. 😏

Thank you! Yeah… it was too easy for her to just leave him a note… 🙂

Thank you! I had to do something… Dani dumping Finn with a note… I felt he would not stand for that…

I think you’d do well writing books, if you haven’t already!
