In devastation
I drown in tears of my own
and I realize
I’d rather hurt by your side
than smile when I’m alone.

Thank you! I think I scared people with this one…!

Hmmmm…. but the underlying idea is having someone be that close to you, despite the pain and tears. That should not be scary!

I think the lack of comments on this one poem made me think that I left people speechless… was it too dark? But this is me, so… is there a ‘too dark’? This kind of is my life but I wasn’t even really thinking about it that way… it just came out. I guess that, in itself, means something…

Poetry can be that way. I have read and liked a poem and been left without the right words or only stuff that would sound trite so I don’t say anything. Although lately I feel bad not commenting when I really like something so I’ve started saying that: I’m speechless! And I think we’ve both concluded that the dark stuff makes for much better writing anyway. (Except for happy ending romances!)

Exactly! I am often speechless when it comes to commenting. I’ve said it before… I may love something but if I can’t think of what to say, I don’t know what to do as I don’t want to sound like a complete moron. LOL

Especially when I read other commenters and their lengthy and profound assessments! I feel positively stupid!
