Surprise! I actually wrote something!
I don’t think I can promise anything — I’m writing this as I go and I’m not sure how quickly (or slowly) it will come along. But after I posted what is now part 1 (before a-to-z… back on March 24), a few of you seemed to want this to continue. It is something I wrote years ago but it needs some changes… some serious editing.
back to you. part 2. [read part 1 here]
How did I get here? The question swam in circles in Dani’s head. She loved Finn. She really did. He was a good man and he loved her. But she never felt what she felt with Adam. Unrealistic, she told herself. Love like that first tempestuous, hyper-emotional love… that happened once. Right? You don’t fall in love again. Not like that. Right? But Dani missed that feeling. She never expected it forever. But she never expected to be where she was. About to marry a man she had never quite fallen for.
She never should have declined Ava’s offer to spend the night. No, I should be alone tonight, Dani told her. Wrong. Dani didn’t want to be alone. And she knew she wasn’t going to fall asleep. She grabbed her phone and hoped Ava was awake. It was a longshot at one in the morning, but she tried anyway.
Dani: are you awake?
Dani: please be awake…
Adam stared at the slivers of light on the ceiling of the living room in his childhood home. His old bedroom had long since been converted to an office. The couch was his bed tonight. It wasn’t very comfortable for sleeping but that wasn’t what kept him awake. It was Dani. Tomorrow, he had to attend her wedding. And he had no idea how he was going to get through it.
He remembered the day the invitation arrived. It was the day his heart sank, and weeks later, it still hadn’t recovered. He was sure it never would. Ava told him to call her. ‘Dani isn’t married yet,’ she said. But how could he do that to her? The wedding was planned. Invitations sent. He didn’t want to ruin her happiness… because you don’t do that to someone you love.
Adam closed his eyes and silently begged for sleep but he knew it wouldn’t come. In that moment, he wasn’t sure he would sleep ever again. But it didn’t matter. He would have been awakened even if he had fallen asleep. As he attempted, again, to find a comfortable position, he heard a phone vibrate on the coffee table beside him. It wasn’t his. But when it vibrated again, he picked it up and read the screen.
Oh, I’m loving this! What a great story line. Cannot wait to read more!

Thanks, Diane! I hope I can keep it going! At least it’s from an old story so I know what happens. Except for all the changes I’ll probably make. LOL

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you’re enjoying it. And I’m really happy I’ve been able to begin to get excited about writing a new story (even though it’s not really new to me)… I’d been having trouble since ‘secret admirer’…

Well I’m glad you got going again. This is one you can write with authenticity (we have the same sort of fantasy life – you and I, so I totally get this!) and that being said, it’s sure to be awesome!

Me, too… glad I got going, I mean. I’ve been having trouble organizing my thoughts and ideas… or having, like, complete ones. Lately, my brain does not storm, so to speak!…

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, I counter proposed to my first true love when I heard she was to marry. She called the wedding off, but was not prepared to travel the world with me as I served in the Army. She later married, as did I, but I do wonder!!!

I have a man like that in my past. Not that I stopped him from marrying another but I do wonder what would have happened if I ended up with him… It would be fascinating to be able to travel to different realities to see what could have happened… But then I suppose we’d have to choose one!
