atlas.

weight of the world.

the world is heavy
resting on my shoulders
and I long for the sweet relief
of its weight

crushing me to dust

About what sandra thinks

Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.

I feel bad “liking” this. I love the way you have crafted this little poem, and can totally relate it to. But the feeling of being crushed is horrible, and thus I don’t like it 😦 and instead and sending you a *hug*

Oh dear, I hope instead that you find relief as it lifts up from your shoulders.

But then Atlas shrugged… (I am not an Ayn Rand advocate, FYI) but I like the metaphor. World on your shoulders. No one can bear that burden alone. xoxo
