In keeping with my level of Christmas spirit (pretty much none), I’ve decided to post another holiday treat. This may be my favorite song I’ve heard all week. As the world continues to fall apart around me, I find myself more Grinchy than ever.
From the television special, not the song…
Every Who down in Whoville liked Christmas a lot
But the Grinch who lived just North of Whoville did not!
____ The Grinch hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season!
____ Now, please don’t ask why. No one quite knows the reason.
Seriously… this was written about me. [We shall just ignore the fact that Dr. Seuss wrote the book WAY before I existed.] I suppose I am not mean. Except to myself. Except maybe inside my own head…
But, whatever the reason, his heart or his shoes,
He stood there on Christmas Eve hating the Whos,
____ Staring down from his cave with a sour, Grinchy frown
____ At the warm lighted windows below in their town,
For he knew every Who down in Whoville beneath
Was busy now hanging a hollywho wreath.
____ “And they’re hanging their stockings,” he snarled with a sneer.
____ “Tomorrow is Christmas! It’s practically here!”
Then he growled, with his Grinch fingers nervously drumming,
“I must find some way to keep Christmas from coming!”
It’s not that I don’t want my kids (or anyone else) to enjoy Christmas. It’s that I can’t make it happen. I feel like an outsider… I’m not a part of it. Yeah, yeah, the whole message is there.
It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
It came without packages, boxes, or bags!
But there’s a reason The Grinch is green. And it has nothing to do with jealousy or gardening. (Okay, maybe a little to do with jealousy.)
I do wonder if I will ever enjoy Christmas again. It’s not like I’m going to be holding hands in a circle singing anytime soon… but hell, I never thought I’d find Christmas quite so loathsome either.
Your soul is an apalling dump heap overflowing
With the most disgraceful assortment of deplorable
Rubbish imaginable
Mangled up in tangled up knots
Better watch out… I’m going to take the roast beast.
I adore the Grinch – the pre-heart growing Grinch. And the dog… the Grinch’s dog is awesome. So fun fact – How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the original) came out the year I was born! Waaaah!

Is that really a FUN fact? 😛 The Grinch is my favorite ever. THIS one… not that garbage live action shit they made. (Which never should have happened.)

Yeah that was meant to be sarcastic! Lol! It was a good year for TV though – 1966: Star Trek premiered, Bateman premiered, The Grinch…

I know you were sarcastic. I mean, really, is there any other way to be? 🙂

Nope that’s the only way to be!

Probably just do what you have to this year to make things okay for the kids and let the rest go. You can’t force yourself to feel it if you don’t ❤

Yeah, I am seriously not feeling it. Way too many things have gone wrong lately. And this whole year…

This and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation make Christmas enjoyable. I need to find me some Who Hash. 😀

Nope! I stole the last can of WhoHash. 😛

Love the original Grinch (not the Jim Carrey one). I’ve been a grinch ever since my mom passed away–she was the one who loved Christmas. And I always feel sorry for Max the dog.

Oh that Jim Carrey thing was awful. I find it’s harder now since my dad passed away. And then pile on all the other crap. Ugh!

I kinda in the Bah Humbug mindset this year too. Not sure why, but I’m not feelin’ it this year. Maybe it’s because know the truth about Santa and the magic is gone, or what. But, I’m just ready for Spring. 😏

What truth about Santa?!?!? No… don’t answer that!

Okay, good. I thought it might be something like that.

Oh, yeah. The National Enquirer had photos of him at a nude beach. It was not a pretty sight. The magic ended the day we saw that. 😜

I don’t know why, but I thought that the picture said “soup of the day.” For a second, I went, “huh? Sandra must be doing something different today.” But nope. It says song. Go back and look at it – the letters really do look like they say soup.
Or maybe I’m just crazy haha.

Oh crap! That is exactly what it looks like. Stupid font! I have, like, over 700 fonts (seriously)… and I choose one that makes soup. I really think I’m going to edit that now!

I doubt anyone else had a problem – I just always have food on the brain 😉

Soup of the day yesterday was this chicken stew thing (not really soup, I suppose)… I made it myself. Had some leftovers tonight… yum.
Oh… Soup is all I can see now. I changed my little graphic. 🙂

I discovered that my local grocery store carries Panera’s soups, so I’ve been working on Broccoli Cheddar here lately. Yum! See, you could start a soup of the day to go along with the song of the day 🙂

I do have one called Chicken Parmesan Soup… it’s amazing. And easy! (And my store has those Panera soups, too… I try to resist… especially since I’d have to share.)

That sounds absolutely delicious. Maybe you can send me the recipe – hint hint. Unless it’s a complicated recipe, and then maybe not. Lol

It’s interesting to me how many people do. It’s always painted as this wonderful, joyous time… but… no.

The Grinch has the best lyrics ever. I find myself citing the insults when I have a particularly cantankerous employee interaction….

Yes… it’s perfect for that. And many other situations…
