it’s a mystery.

writing-girl

I skipped out on blog awards a long time ago. I never followed the rules anyway. What a rebel. But since Vic is my friend and she mentioned me in her ‘Mystery Blogger Award‘ post, I thought I’d do it. Parts of it. I mean, it would be rude not to, right?

So… first… I’m supposed to tell you three things about me. You’ve already seen too much. What harm could even more information possibly do?

3 things about myself… that you may not know:

  1. I was the Student Council President in high school (basically, in charge of the entire student body… no not like that… unfortunately). Now I cannot bear to speak (or even be) in front of people like that. I get so anxious I can barely remain standing.
  2. I’ve seen the Disney movie Tangled more times than I can remember – well into triple digits.
  3. I hate whipped cream. It is vile.

Vic’s 5 questions:

  1. Where’s the best place you’ve ever traveled to?
Florence, Italy. No question. I want to live there. And die there.
  1. What’s your favorite kind of cookie?
Oatmeal – homemade by me/my recipe – no raisins, no chips. Just oatmeal cookies. And I prefer the cookie dough to the baked cookies. Which works out because I’m usually too full to eat the baked cookies by the time they’re out of the oven anyway…
  1. Do you like turtlenecks?
No… I will only wear maybe a sweater with a soft cozy loose “cowl” neck. (That’s what it’s called, right?) Turtlenecks are too strangle-y. Lots of crew necks feel strangle-y, too. I prefer a scoop neck. Also… I have nothing against the neck of an actual turtle.
  1. Do you like to eat your foods one at a time or do you mix foods on your fork?
It depends what it is. I’m not my little sister – who hates to have anything touch. She wants a divided plate so everything is separated. Ha! Not me… I’m flexible.
  1. In twenty years if you look back, what’s the most important thing you want to have done with your life between now and then?
This is too hard… If I had any idea what I wanted my life to be, I’d be in way better (psychological) shape right now. Of course I would want to have been a great parent – I want my kids to be happy and successful and kind. And I want to have finally written a book – like, a complete one, published one way or another. But full disclosure: The first thing that came to mind is… I want to have figured out what happiness is and to have some of it. I’m pretty sure the kid thing and the book thing are far more likely to actually happen.

There it is. Cheerful as ever. Hope you’re not sorry you asked…

About what sandra thinks

Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.

aw, thanks for answering! I wasn’t sure you had seen the post. No whipped cream, huh? Do you like milk? Mmm, oatmeal cookies. Yum! You should send me some! (I asked Meg for her favorite cookie too but I don’t think I will get any, lol)

  3. Whipped cream is vile?!?! Omg, you did not just say that! Ok, now that my shocked and appalled thang is done, I can’t wait to see Florence. Never been to Italy before, and my wife’s best friend is marrying a man who’s from there, next fall. All of us are looking super forward to it. 😃

    • Yep… now everyone hates me because I hate whipped cream. Sigh. Just think… when we go out for ice cream sundaes, you can have my whipped cream. More for you.

And Florence is just perfect. I want to run away there. Of course at this point, I’d have to walk… and swim… and walk some more.

      • Wait a second! I didn’t say I hated you. I just can’t believe you don’t like whipped cream. Cool Whip? I’d get that. It’s gross. But whipped cream?
Yeah, we are so excited about that impending trip to Florence, though his family’s estate is north of the city. We’ll see how much time we get to explore, as my wife is in the wedding. But I will make a point of seeing as much of it as possible. And, yes, if we ever split a sundae or a milkshake or anything else with whipped cream on it, I’ll take it! 😃

        • No no… I know you don’t hate me. I think I was taken by surprise when everyone jumped on that one! I didn’t know people thought no one hated whipped cream! I’ve never liked it… even as a kid when you’d think kids would eat pretty much anything on their ice cream… 😀 (And for the record, I don’t like Cool Whip either…)

  5. Always nice to know more about our friends. I can’t say that I love whipped cream, either. T does help a piece of pumpkin or, but that’s about it for me!

    • I don’t like anything pumpkin either! Thank god someone doesn’t think I’m nuts for not liking whipped cream! I was beginning to feel like a freak. Like, for an additional reason than usual. 🙂

      • 😀 you are so cute! I like pumpkin cheesecake but probably cause it’s more cheesecake than pumpkin! I hope the holidays aren’t getting you down. It’s so different this year for me, trying to catch the holiday spirit, but I’ll get there…

        • I’m sure you will get your Christmas spirit… You’re incredibly strong and you’ve got your lovely family. I have no doubt. 🙂 I haven’t really enjoyed Christmas for a few years now. I’m not entirely sure why… but I know part of it this year is my dire financial situation paired with how much Christmas has become all about money/shopping/spending. I should enjoy (or at least focus on) everything else but I’ve not gotten there yet either. Kind of hard with all the in-your-face commercialism. And whenever the phone rings, I get a sinking feeling as I answer, hoping to hell it’s not about my cousin. I wanna go back to Christmases when I was, like, 5 years old.

          • Yep, I know what you mean. Several years ago hubby lost his job, we had unemployment and severance for months but when he hadn’t found any thing by Christmas I was crushed. I was so depressed, didn’t want to do anything to decorate or bake, etc. Didn’t want to spend money on the kids and I hated that! And I was so angry at hubby even tho it wasn’t his fault his company closed. And Christmas came anyway and I ruined it for myself. I vowed no matter what, I’d never do that again and I haven’t cause I just need to be happy. I do hope nothing changes with your cousin right now, though. Your poor uncle 😦

            • Yes… I had unemployment and severance, too… but it’s been too long… I have nothing. We already cut back a lot last Christmas, but now… well, I feel like I cannot spend a penny. So far I’ve bought nothing for anyone. Good thing we stay over at my mom’s on Christmas Eve and have Christmas morning there — at least my kids will have gifts from my mom and sisters… because I’m not sure I can buy them anything. 😦 It makes me feel like such a horrible parent. And I’m sure my husband is angry with me… and not just for Christmas… but he will never admit it.

    • For a while there, I thought I was the only one! My son won’t touch it either! This may be a stupid question… but do you have Friendly’s ice cream there? I’m guessing no… but they have this “forbidden chocolate” flavor… oooh it’s so good… (And it should never be ruined with whipped cream!) 🙂
