You know how people say you should listen to uplifting music when you’re down… when you’re having a terrible day? That doesn’t work for me. It’s kind of like perky people. I want to kick the uplifting music in the face. Or in the nuts.
A normal person would not be this way, would she? Something’s not right with me.
I’ve had a few too many bad days lately. The extended holiday weekend was helpful… if only for the constant presence of my children preventing me from overthinking much of anything. But then Monday came. Yes, even for the unemployed, Mondays suck.
I tried to fix it… but…
How do you fix something when you know what you need to fix it but you can’t get it because you need to fix it to get to the thing you need to fix it?
I give up… and I seek my friend. No, not Morrissey. This time… Robert Smith.
I’d love to touch the sky tonight
I’d love to touch the sky
So take me in your arms
And lift me like a child
And hold me up so high
And never let me go
Take me
Take me in your arms tonight
Hold me
Hold me up so high
And never let me down
Hold me
Hold me up so high
To touch the sky
Just one more time
Uplifting music when I’m down does change my mood. From sad to irritated. But at least I start thinking about how lame that shit is instead of being sad. Maybe listen to some Amy Grant. The desire to take her out with a pen may override your sadness, at least for a time. 😃

Oh my God (no pun intended)… if I listened to her, I’d probably actually murder someone. 😀

Exactly! Well, not literally, of course. But your mind would be elsewhere. 😃

Oh, hey this! Her dad is now home! No rehab needed, not even home health. It’s unreal. He’s an hornary s.o.b., that’s for sure. Prayers answered. Thanks! 😊

I actually go the other way. I love choral music when feeling low … there is something quite mystical and raw / unvarnished about it which feels appropriate
Happy to provide recommendations if my post hasn’t had you retching at the thought

No. I’m good with what I listen to when I’m down. People tell me it’s all wrong because it won’t make me feel better… but it makes me feel better than any other music would…
Plus, I’m a music snob… not that I know enough about music to say what’s technically good or bad… but in that I like what I like a lot and I hate what I hate a LOT.

Oh Amy Grant *vomit* – that was hilarious, though! i like angry music when I’m blue. Anyway, you know I adore the Cure so… 💙💙💙
