let me go.

damaged.

If you can’t climb with me
let me go
Stop dragging me down
to the very place
I hope to leave behind

If you can’t hear me
let me go
I’m tired of screaming
when you only hear
words you want me to speak

If you can’t love me
let me go
Give me a chance to find
the man predestined
to mend my broken heart

About what sandra thinks

Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.

    I think you have captured the essence of poetry, to release whatever stirs most in our spirit and must be said

    Beautifully written Sandra. I’m sad fir the speaker, freedom, it’s what we all want. If we are meant to be caught or in a situation where we must be responsible, there had to be rewards and a reason we do it. If not , it’s just the speaker alone, no help and not being cared for well enough by her partner. I can understand her desire to fly and be free.

    Just catching up…. This is excellent, Sandra. Not sure I can state it any better than the other commenters, but this is just so honest. To be done with someone weighing you down and holding you back. And the frustration of not being able to go. 💙

  9. Yup. Sometimes it’s hard initially to see the blessing in folks letting you go, but you nailed it here.
