weekly perk.

The cliché (shoot me now) is “it’s the little things that count.” I hate clichés. They are just… drivel. They make the deliverer of said cliché feel like they’re helpful while their only accomplishment is making the recipient want to scream or vomit. Oh, all right, that’s how it is for me as the recipient. Your results may vary.

When something makes me smile or laugh or just feel good, it’s not little. It’s quite the opposite. I suppose it might seem little to someone else, but not to me. So, yeah, I hate clichés. This one I only mildly hate. There are many I hate much much more. What? You couldn’t think of an original thought so you’re just spewing out some cliché? Go think about what you’ve done and get back to me…

But that’s a topic for another time.

Today, I thought I’d share some random (not-little-to-me) good things from the past week. I didn’t plan this… so at this moment, I have no idea what I’m going to write… past the first one.

You guys are wonderful people. I’m always amazed I’m able to keep you coming back for more of whatever the hell it is I have here. This week, a few of you made me feel especially loved – even more than usual. I won’t go into detail. Maybe you do or maybe you don’t know who you are… but thank you.

My son giggles every time I ask him to shut the front door. And I actually mean shut the front door. My feet are cold.

♦◊♦
My husband and I were born the same year. He had a birthday this week… so until my birthday in June, his advanced-by-one age is not mine. Yay! I’m now in the midst of the 3.5-week stretch in which I totally rub it in. Fun!

Earlier this week, I got an email from my friend who also happens to be my ex-boss. I haven’t heard from her in months. And I think once I make it through the summer (kids all day nearly every day… God help me… I feel the exhaustion setting in already), she might be able to help me on the job front. And she knows exactly how awesome I am since she was my boss. (Plus I’m glad she got back in touch – we used to spend too much time in her office chatting and laughing… and trying not to look guilty when we finally opened the door. But we didn’t really care – we knew we were being laid off!)

I received an entirely different email from someone else yesterday that totally made my day.

Thursday’s new episode of Archer was hilarious. Damn, the preview for next week was hilarious… “What are you wearing?!?” “A loincloth.” “Here?” “I didn’t know I’d be going to a funeral. I would have worn a black one.” Ahh…! I love him.

♦◊♦
I finally saw Deadpool… which was just perfectly inappropriate and funny as hell. [Spoiler Alert! – but not really since I’ve seen this in a tv commercial.] I lost it with the baby hand… among other things.

I make my kids laugh. Every day. That makes me happy.

About what sandra thinks

Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.

Still waiting to see Deadpool… but glad to know someone like-minded enjoyed it, that’s a good movie review in my book! 😀 Happy to hear you had a great week, good luck with the job possibility.

    • We do love superhero movies… But this one, being not-for-kids made it so so much funnier. Thanks for the luck… I do need it… But I do get to put the job thing on hold until Sept because it makes no sense for us to pay for the kids to go to summer camp… But after that… reality. Boo… 😀

I find myself trying not to be cliche but I do write sometimes in cliches and talking in cliches. Deadpool I hear is really funny. Thanks for writing a good blog.
