e is for engagement.
Like many girls, I grew up with the fantasy
Princesses and waltzes and Prince Charming
But before long, these wishes fell out of favor
Replaced by a life better than fairy tales
Love, real and true, does not require a show
Of the romance found in every book and movie
(Oh, those are lovely stories but predictable)
Unusual gestures may seem devoid of romance
Yet such thought and love surpasses typical
And that is why I knew you truly loved me –
I deserved more than flowers and bended knee
You gave me laughter and a forever story
When you sat near me on the bed with a ring
Handed it to me and said, “Here you go.”
That’s awesome! At least he asked, I had to propose to Harry! And then waited forever to get a ring!

Aww… Well, mine wasn’t exactly a question…! More of an assumption… lol

He has his moments! Later that evening, he took out the trash. At my apartment. Where he did not even live… 🙂

‘Handed it to me and said, “here you go,”‘. I loved that last line so much.

Wonderful! Mine said, if I asked you would you marry me? What romanticism we’ve chosen, lol!

Hahaha, this made me laugh! If my other half ever gets round to asking me, I’m sure it will be something along the lines of those words!

🙂 It does make for a funny story! Super romantic is nice… but I like that our story is funny instead….It’s fitting for us.

That’s so awesome. My man tried to be romantic. He stopped at a scenic overlook, asked me to get out of the car. He went to the trunk and started piddling around…..I got bored and got back in the car cause I was mad at him. He had to come and get me again. Slipped on some ice, it was so funny. We ended up in tears laughing so hard.

That’s a great story! I think the funny things make it more special. Unique, anyway! 🙂

Ours was special, and I hope romantic, but I embarrassed the shit outta her in front of a bunch of strangers. That count? 😃

Embarrassing is fun… like, for others, not me. 😀 Of course everyone’s story is special. Mine just happens to also be slightly ridiculous! lol I suppose mine was romantic it its own way… because, well, that’s romantic for him. 🙂

My husband proposed in the car, and then made a more formal proposal on the bridge of a canal walk. 😄

Great write. My proposal was on one knee during a serenade.

That totally fits for you! I probably would have started laughing my ass off if John got down on one knee. That would only be to tie his shoe. 🙂

LOL How did he propose?

As described in the poem…

Damn. I took that as a work of fiction.

Well, it does sound far-fetched, but yeah… that’s John. Mr. Romance. 😀

That is why I read it as fiction. Sorry.

No problem. Honestly, if it didn’t happen I don’t think I could have even come up with this…!

Haha That is one romantic devil you have there. Do you make up for it reading romance novels?
