engaged.

e is for engagement.

Like many girls, I grew up with the fantasy
Princesses and waltzes and Prince Charming
But before long, these wishes fell out of favor
Replaced by a life better than fairy tales
Love, real and true, does not require a show
Of the romance found in every book and movie
(Oh, those are lovely stories but predictable)
Unusual gestures may seem devoid of romance
Yet such thought and love surpasses typical
And that is why I knew you truly loved me –
I deserved more than flowers and bended knee
You gave me laughter and a forever story
When you sat near me on the bed with a ring
Handed it to me and said, “Here you go.
heart hug.

A to Z challenge — a letter a day throughout the month of April (except Sundays) until we reach z. My theme is small.

About what sandra thinks

Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.

  1. That’s awesome! At least he asked, I had to propose to Harry! And then waited forever to get a ring!

‘Handed it to me and said, “here you go,”‘. I loved that last line so much.

Hahaha, this made me laugh! If my other half ever gets round to asking me, I’m sure it will be something along the lines of those words!

That’s so awesome. My man tried to be romantic. He stopped at a scenic overlook, asked me to get out of the car. He went to the trunk and started piddling around…..I got bored and got back in the car cause I was mad at him. He had to come and get me again. Slipped on some ice, it was so funny. We ended up in tears laughing so hard.
