with you.

with you. a poem by sandra.

I am weak
And I am afraid
To tell you
That I am in love
With your eyes
With the sound of your laugh
And your voice
(Deep and sexy and perfect)
With your thoughts
And how you read mine
(Even though
You don’t know you can)
With the way
You think you’re just a man
(And you are
A sweet, beautiful man
But not ‘just’
You are so much more)
With your touch
When your skin brushes mine
You may think
I don’t even notice
But I do
Because it makes me tingle
(Everywhere)
My heart forgets to beat
And I try
To remember to breathe but
I struggle
Because I am weak and afraid
To tell you
That I am in love
With you
swish.

About what sandra thinks

Sandra is a writer, sometimes blogger, poet, artist, emotional disaster. She thinks far too much and sleeps far too little. Sandra lives in the Northeastern U.S. but dreams of an oceanfront home in Italy, but she would settle for a non-oceanfront home in Italy. She loves books, brutal honesty, coffee, and the color black. She hates insincerity, beer, whipped cream, and facebook. And she is uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.

Very deep and powerful poem, I remember times where I cared about a girl soo much, but sometimes those ‘What if’s’ really screw with you. Not exactly something I would like to picture all the time, but it is rather intense emotions that bubbled to the surface while reading this poem. So bravo! 🙂

  3. Thank you so much! I have been there… and at times, I still wonder “what if” about some of them! Thanks again for your thoughts. 🙂

  5. Do you mind if I elect this one as my favorite. This is so good. You know I am going through my whole lovefest and you come and right one so beautiful. Great work.

    • You can have any (or as many) favorites as you want… This one is my favorite right now, too. It fascinates me how often the ones that fly out of me in minutes are better than the ones I spend longer on. And by the way — the last four lines were the first ones I wrote — I so so agree with you on the start-at-the-end thing. It works miracles.

And thank you so much for the lovely compliment — I’m so flattered and my son just asked me what I was smiling at. I didn’t want to say ‘a guy on the internet’ because he will totally repeat that to my husband. Ha! 😀

I felt like I should post something here. I don’t want you all to think I’m just a nerd. Or a stalker. Or some creepy combination of those things.

I wrote this a few weeks ago. I have no idea how to judge whether poetry is good or bad or right or wrong. I really know very little about poetry. When I started writing it, I thought it would go very poorly and I’d hate it. But people liked it and I enjoyed it way more than I expected. Now I can’t stop writing it. (Except today… when my brain is as empty as Kim Kardashian’s.)

Hope you like it. (Sorry Meg and Rob… I know you’ve already seen this… not sure about anyone else!)
